Red Rhino replied to the topic Is this how it went down in the preseason with Isaac Wilson in the forum Football 8 months ago
How tall is Isaac Wilson actually? He’s listed at 6′ but he doesn’t look it. If he is really 5′ 10″ that explains his lack of vision and field awareness. In order to be successful he would need to be used similarly to the way Texas A&M used Johnny Manziel, more as a spread playmaker and out of pocket passer. He’s too short to see over the O line…[Read more]

When I talked to Cam’s dad, who is a member here, a couple of weeks ago this is what I gathered:
– He just had surgery
– Recovery is 3+ months
– He hasn’t decided yet if he’s going to play football next year
– If he does play football next year, he’s most likely hitting the portal
– Didn’t rule out coming back to the Utes -

I prefer not to patronize entities that associate with the tspp. Call it what you will. I have PTSD.

What do you have against KSL? they’ve provided great Ute coverage the last decade.

Maybe summarize the list so I don’t have to give ksl my clicks.

There were plays in the Utah State game where Isaac went thru his progressions and made the right throws. There were plays in that game where he manipulated LB and safeties.
Maybe it was the competition, maybe not. But he’s not doing those things now.

From someone who watched Keller a ton in High School, my daughter graduated with him, I saw things about him last night many didn’t. I probably attended 15-20 of his games, including the State Championship game.
#1, he’s a way better player than what CU got with Andrew Crawford this last year. Both were well known in High school here in Colorado,…[Read more]

I’m not fully versed in NIL but…isn’t that essentially private money or at least partly private now? I mean he can take advertiser money directly and the U can’t shut it off…or can they? I’m not clear about those aspects of how it works today. If they were employees I know it would be different.

At this point Harlan might as well hire Cam, he’s running the program as it is. I for one did not want Cam back this year. I certainly didn’t change my mind based on this year’s happenings.
It’s a no for me!

I’m not sure if Wilson has really regressed, so much as it is that teams have figured out his weakness.
I’m reminded of after the TCU game, someone asked “How is the OL grading well, it seems like there’s always pressure on the QB?” … and the answer is the same
Normally, TCU blitzes 20-something percent of the time. Against Utah, they blitzed…[Read more]

And the right OC coupled with an aggressive personality like Scalley as HC WILL attract offensive talent. And the right talent.

Some Advice, Opinions and observations.
Talent matters. Stars matter to a certain extent. But I would argue that culture and a no nonsense approach means much more than just paying a bunch of pampered players.
The portal is both great and terrible. Same with NIL.
Both of led to in some cases privileged individuals who cry and destroy locker…[Read more]

I like lovering for rim protection and rebounding. Hope he provides a little more inside scoring, so the team can be balanced and score from outside and inside 10 feet.
How does a guy like Keller that has probably played basketball since jr high, not have a better shooting motion? Does a player his size always dunk the ball and never cares…[Read more]

If he wanted to return, I would tell him he can compete for the job with everyone else, BUT there will be no money for him from our NIL. He’s uniquely situated in this market to get “real” NIL on his own due to his popularity. Ya know, endorsements negotiated outside the program with an agent like every other pro athlete does? We’ve given him a…[Read more]
