Agree UF. No inside info only going off the Riley interview and what CRs been saying all along. Hopefully CR has this all sorted out by now with KW and the team. NFL or not, CR sounded ready to put his college football days at Utah behind him after the Rose Bowl. As the couch riding Utah football expert I am like the rest of y’all, 100% all in with the Barnes, Johnson, Rose, Howard, Bottari battle and anybody else wanting to throw their hat in the ring. I hope KW stays away from the transport portal for a QB, develop the guys committed to the program the Utay way. Time to pass the torch!

Nate Johnson is ready to take the torch. I know we haven’t seen a lot from him yet, but everyone in the program is very high on him. Legit 4-star kid with track-star speed and elite athleticism. Bring it on!

On the road to a 3-Peat, we get to beat some great quarterbacks.

Defense and Oline will be good next year.. we need a pass rusher.. nix is injury prone and they’ll be playing here .. USC and Washington will be tough but beatable; we have already beaten a heisman QB twice now. 2023 should be fun … win the rose this year . If we lose cam, I am fine with a retooling year in preparation for 2024.. keep coaching and players in place we are setup to make some noise in the playoffs.. future looks bright .. our depth at positions imo has been whats sets us apart the last few seasons.

2024 will be our deep playoff run with an experienced Nate Johnson and improving draft classes

Nothing can beat an experienced Johnson.

What our Johnson lacks in experience he makes up for it with speed.

I mean, it’s in the beating that experience is found.

Think we honestly go 8-4 next year.
      6-3 in PAC12.
      Even with rising

If Rising, Kuithe, Bernard and Vele come back you’re ranked in the top 7 again…not going 8-4. Most of the O-line returns and almost all of the defense.

Nothing has been decided as of today. They are all still a decent possibility to return.

I agree – if these guys come back, we are as good as any team in the conference.  The PAC12 looks to be very good next season.  There may be five teams ranked in the top 15-20 teams.  There could be 3-4 teams in the top 12 IMO.

Some good bulletin board material—ESPN is predicting that Oregon will be the favorite to win the PAC-12 Championship with Bo Nix returning. I could hardly contain my laughter, and my opinion of the dimwits at ESPN.

Well Oregon, USC and Washington need significant upgrades on the defensive side of the ball.
Clearly Riley won’t figure that out. Just ask Oklahoma fans.
Oregon..maybe if they spend even more. But man their defense sucked. I even say this with how s**tty Utah was at Autzen.
Washington’s tackling was like Utah for the first 5-6 games of the season. Terrible and never corrected.

Utah and Oregon St have disciplined defenses. Utah just happens to have the most talent they have ever had ever on the defensive side of the ball. Which is saying something obviously but I really like this defense in 2023.

It’s interesting that you think 3 first year coaches won’t be able to improve their teams weak spots in their 2nd year. Lanning led incredible defenses at Georgia. DeBoer has won at every level he’s been at. I would expect both to dramatically improve their defenses with a 2nd year in their systems. Reilly was a weird rule change and/or QB injury from a CFP spot without a top level defense.

Such a fan thing to assume that your team improves and gets every break while your opponents stagnate or regress. Florida should improve in the 2nd year with Napier, @ Baylor was rebuilding this year, @ SC, Oregon, @ UW, @ Oregon State, can UCLA get a decent QB to transfer in? I’m trying to figure out how Utah gets to 8-4 and people are anointing 2023 as a top ten team.,,

Honestly, USC or Oregon make the most sense to pick. Then probably Washington, then us. Now, if all our dudes come back, then I think we deserve a lot of consideration, but we did lose 2 games in the conference this year, and Oregon was one of them. The conference is really, really good right now, especially with all those dudes coming back. I am really, really proud of our team this year for winning the conference against really strong competition. I think we can do it again if we get our dudes back, but I don’t think it is dumb for outsiders to see Oregon as an early favorite.

Oregon should be in the mix, but so should the Utes, USC, Oregon State, and UW. I think that it is dumb to pick anyone over the two-time defending champions, with our roster and coach, before the season. We played a poor game at Oregon, and they couldn’t get past UW or Oregon State.

With BoR voting on UCLA finalized, I wouldn’t be surprised if they announce their early departure here in the next couple months. Texas and Oklahoma are also likely to leave a year early.

Whoopty doo…  The article will be the exact same about Utah if Rising decides to come back, then ESPN will talk about Oregon and USC adnauseam until late November until the conference race shakes itself out.  This is not an unknown at this point.

Conference is much better now and into next year so injuries will be a big factor. Any of those QB’s go down and they’re a much different team. 8-4 is a possibility given our schedule but with what we have returning (or potentially returning) I would place that as the floor.

If it’s Nate at QB I think 8-4 is very possible. If it’s Cam I don’t think we go below 9 wins.
