There are a few things that seem clear to me.
1. Carlson has become the best version of his college basketball self. He did things I have never seen him do, and he did them with strength and confidence. Contested threes, pick and roll, driving for a dunk, strong post-ups, and even slipping screens for dunks.
2. Trading Battin for Lovering was…[Read more]

Tale of two halves tonight. One half we had 9 turnovers and WF shot 70% from three. The next half we only had 2 turnovers, and their final 3pt percentage was 40% (which is a great night still, but much worse than 70).
Brandon Carlson is very good. 31 pts and 5 blocks.

I also like his WR teammate Young, who is a WR in the mold of Covey. I think we should go all in on the 2-3 TE and a speedy slot guy strategy (as long as 1 of the TEs is a rangy type like Kincaid). Young would be perfect for our system.

Dang… He has some really good offers. If nothing else, this should help our 2025 class.

chinngiskhaan replied to the topic Am I the only one that would like to see what Kyle could do at the helm in the forum Football 1 year, 7 months ago
The Ronaldo/RM situation is not analogous to my Kyle scenario. My family has been friends with Kyle’s since Kyle was in high school. My choice to be his fan is more about him as a person than him as a coach. This has nothing to do with cheering for the big star on the rich team.
If he did go to USC, I would be a fan of USC while he was there… but…[Read more]

Kyle is a family friend from my dads college days at TSPP. We’ve always liked the U but didn’t fully convert until he was hired. I have very little connection to the University outside of him. I liked the Utes when they were underdogs, but I’ve only been a full fan since Kyle became the HC.

of a blue blood program?
I’m sure this isn’t a popular take, but since I am first a Kyle fan, and a UofU fan second, I would really like to see what he could do if he were to take over a blue blood program for the last 5 years or so of his career. I’m 99.9% sure he has no plans to do any such thing, but I would love to see it.
Imagine what he…[Read more]

chinngiskhaan replied to the topic Why I don't think Whitt is telling the whole truth… in the forum Football 1 year, 7 months ago
riiiight… but just because it wouldn’t give Arizona an advantage to be more transparent that does not mean that it would HELP the UTES on the football field. Whitt said he would be more transparent if it would help them win football games. Do you see the difference?

chinngiskhaan replied to the topic Why I don't think Whitt is telling the whole truth… in the forum Football 1 year, 7 months ago
It’s Monday. The game was on Saturday. It is entirely possible that he simply hasn’t taken the time to figure out exactly what went wrong. Also, keep in mind that speaking.
Also, what reason does he have to be completely transparent about this kind of stuff? It’s just like he says with injuries: When someone shows him how divulging that…[Read more]

Yes, I’m glad some of us haven’t gone completely zoob. It was a good game, we lost. This team has a bright future.

chinngiskhaan replied to the topic Any chance Ludwig retires at the end of the season? in the forum Football 1 year, 7 months ago
Lol… Ludwig has done a great job getting us this far with half an offense.
I don’t know why anyone is complaining. We have one of the best coaching staffs in college football. Whitt is a top tier HC. Ludwig and Scalley are both highly regarded coordinators that have somehow remained loyal to Whitt. Ellis, Swan, Shah and Harding are all great too…[Read more]

chinngiskhaan replied to the topic Utah Football Program Elite in the forum Football 1 year, 7 months ago
I think we all know Utah is not an elite football program. Elite programs at least have a chance at winning the championship on a regular basis. We don’t have the horses to make a championship run at the end of a season. We are simply too thin on offense.

The men: Interesting box score numbers. Keba had a great game but went 0 for 4 from the line. WOOOOOOOOF! Still a great game from him though numbers wise.
Looks like Lovering showed up. Overall bad shooting numbers from our team (not so bad from the line though). Lovering was 3 for 3 from the line tonight. Shot the ball well.
Interesting stat of…[Read more]

One of our most athletic players did not play (Excacte), so when he comes back we should be a little better off there.
I don’t know anything about Erickson.
This team is last years team + some possible improvements from the incumbent contributors, and most importantly, massively improved depth. We have at least three guys coming off the bench…[Read more]

I mean, a basketball hoop isn’t much narrower than a garbage can. Shooting free throws is not hard. 1 of 6 is an indication that someone doesn’t practice enough.

I’m glad our starters shot well from the free-throw line. That might be the only stat that translates from this game to more difficult contests.
Couple of things that jump out – Keita hit 5 of 6 free throws. That seems to signal improvement in shooting from him, but its only one game so who knows?
Also, Tarlac was 1 for 6 from the free throw…[Read more]

chinngiskhaan replied to the topic WR Eric McAlister Leaving BSU in the forum Football 1 year, 7 months ago
Because he’s a WR, and we rarely throw to those types. The lack of WR production may be a coaching issue, it may be a scheme issue, it may be a talent issue. I don’t know. I am going to assume it’s a scheme/coaching thing until proven otherwise.
Why would a proven WR come to play at Utah next year? Either Rising stays, and we all know who he is…[Read more]
