FWIW, while D1 transfers can sign scholarship paperwork and announce their transfer destination, they aren't obligated to a college until they actually attend a class at their new school. It isn't like NLIs signed by HS or junior college prospects.
— Chris Karpman (@ChrisKarpman) December 21, 2022

Stanley always struck me as someone who they would try to put in the Covey/Dixon role instead of a true back.

Snowden is .8892 and Mitchell is .8898 which puts them in the “borderline 4 star” category. I count 8 in the >.88 to <.90 range. Statistically speaking, there probably in very little difference in any of those 8 other than the prestige of saying 4 star instead of high 3 star.

2008 National Champ replied to the topic Former Ute QB Peter Costelli transferring again in the forum Football 2 years, 7 months ago
We’re starting to see some pretty glaring examples of the cost of the Covid year. Nate Johnson got to play in 2021 and is looking prepared for the college level while Costelli, Ethan Calvert and Tufaga didn’t get reps their senior year and seem to be way behind.
I don’t have time to do the research but it would be interesting to see if there is…[Read more]

the top programs like Ohio State, Clemson, Bama, etc continually pile talent upon talent upon talent. You can never have enough and if a couple of kids who aren’t playing leave because of someone who is.,, well that’s pretty much the cost of doing business.
There aren’t many examples of kids who left Utah and went on to stardom somewhere else so…[Read more]

It’s interesting that you think 3 first year coaches won’t be able to improve their teams weak spots in their 2nd year. Lanning led incredible defenses at Georgia. DeBoer has won at every level he’s been at. I would expect both to dramatically improve their defenses with a 2nd year in their systems. Reilly was a weird rule change and/or QB…[Read more]

you have to pay for it. PFF usually has a pretty good database. I don’t agree with all of their conclusions but that would be my first go-to.
Most places just show you counting stats which don’t have context to them. i.e. if you remember a few years back Evan Weaver at Cal was racking up the tackle stats. He even had around 20 against Utah in…[Read more]

2008 National Champ started the topic Anyone else hearing Ludwig to A&M speculation? in the forum Football 2 years, 7 months ago
I’ll admit that it never crossed my mind that Ludwig would be looking elsewhere and I’ve resigned myself (tongue in cheek, don’t get your panties in a bunch) to AL being the coordinator as long as Whitt is around. So I was rather surprised to read that Texas A&M fans were interested in him.

interceptions would probably be the 6th tie breaker in determining best CB. i’d start with % of total targets since a true shutdown corner doesn’t get thrown against unless the other team has to. next i’d go with completion % against. pick-6’s are great but they aren’t necessarily a function of coverage ability.

The math isn’t as straightforward for the Utah schools because of mission kids. I think that there are somewhere around 5 recruits in this class that could take their missions but whether they will do so immediately or after 1 year on campus isn’t known at this point. We all expect Nate Ritchie and Sione Fotu to come back so that would be a wash…[Read more]

Justin Flowe: 5 star LB who has had some injury issues
Jonathan Flowe: 4 star DB who didn’t get on the field as a freshman. Might be worth a flyer as a package deal
Byron Cardwell: 4 star RB who impressed as a true freshman but disappeared in 2022You can never have enough talent, especially if they are kids who feel like they got screwed by a…[Read more]

Alabama didn’t have their usual 3 first round receivers and didn’t make the playoffs. Can’t imagine anyone will outspend them if Saint Nick let’s it be known that he wants him.

Iowa State offered him almost a year before Utah did. I’m petty sure he ended up walking on at Arizona so I’m not sure a previous offer would matter.

only if “academics” = “Barry Alvarez”.
Anderson left because Alvarez, the AD, only wanted Anderson to run the exact same system that Alvarez did when he was the Coach.

Georgia Tech also has issues based on the majors they offer. It is often cited as one of the main reasons they struggle to recruit their local area

2008 National Champ replied to the topic Landon Morris in the portal…what could it mean? in the forum Football 2 years, 7 months ago
Could be a lot of reasons but if 247 is correct, he used his one free transfer last year coming to Utah. So unless he has qualified for grad status, he will need to sit out wherever he goes. Has to be a pretty good reason for him to transfer if he is willing to sit for a year.
He’s an east coast kid so it could be geographical, maybe he wasn’t…[Read more]

2023 Schedule hasn’t been released yet. If you are looking at FBS schedules dot com, they list the unscheduled away games first and then the home.
It makes no sense that the conference can’t come up with schedules for each two year cycle at one time but Pac-12 gonna Pac-12. I assume they think they are smart enough to manipulate the matchups in…[Read more]
