2008 National Champ started the topic completely off the subject in the forum Football 2 years, 10 months ago
but when is Utah going to find another punter who can kick the damn ball more than 40 yards in the air? Bouwmeester hasn’t been under pressure or needed to worry about touchbacks. Man I miss the days of Utah punters not giving the other team the ball at midfield.

2008 National Champ replied to the topic Filinger gave up contain again for a long TD in the forum Football 2 years, 10 months ago
Hubert is somewhat excusable. Filinger has to know when he’s unblocked there’s a reason for it. Once it came back his way, even if he doesn’t make the tackle he has to force the runner to alter his path letting everyone else a chance to make a play.

2008 National Champ replied to the topic Washington at UCLA – Who ya got? in the forum Football 2 years, 10 months ago
That stat is based on 2014 when Baylor and TCU were considered Big 12 co-champs. That was the only year when there were “extra” 1 loss P5 conference champs. It can certainly happen again but right now it’s more of a sample size issue than a trend.

2008 National Champ replied to the topic What do you expect from our passing game tomorrow? in the forum Football 2 years, 10 months ago
Jaylon Dixon and Money Parks are two of the fastest players in the conference. Kincaid and Kuithe have both shown the ability to run deep routes. There is a deep route on 90% of the plays Ludwig calls. 4 verts and 989 are staples in any modern offense. I’m also not sure why you think a slot receiver or a TE can’t run a deep route. The routes…[Read more]

OSU gave Williams fits because for all his talent, he still hasn’t been able to make plays consistently when you take his first read away from him. Rising exhibited the same thing earlier this year, especially locking on to Kuithe.
If Rising is willing to trust his receivers to make plays (WR, Slot or TE) he will have plenty of chances to spread…[Read more]

2008 National Champ replied to the topic Would you return to Utah if you were Kuithe? in the forum Football 2 years, 10 months ago
I would imagine that he already had gotten injury insurance when he decided to come back. He also has his pre-draft grades from 2021 and 2022 which I’m sure is part of his reason for coming back this year.
Without knowing his injury none of us can speculate whether it would be career threatening. We can only surmise that it won’t help his draft…[Read more]

2008 National Champ replied to the topic Preferred Start Times in the forum Football 2 years, 10 months ago
Watching on TV = doesn’t really matter since I can my day however I want.
Attending a game = noon or 1 local time. I like to get into town the night before, have a nice dinner and get out on the town. Get up at normal time, watch the game, and enjoy the rest of the day. The last thing I want is to finish the game at 10 or later and have…[Read more]

I’ve been wondering about Bishop’s size and saw that he was reported at 225. Getting Ritchie back should provide the opportunity for Bishop to move forward like Nephi did since Nate/Cole have similar skill sets.
Getting Fotu back (he looked really good in the short 2020) and pairing him with some combination of Bishop & Barton while having K.…[Read more]

don’t you put that evil on me Ricky Bobby!
We all thought Arizona would be the easiest game last year and it was anything but.

UCLA.
Bear with me here. WSU, SC, Oregon State, Oregon have all been games which Utah has lost recently or struggled with so the team will be focused on those. UCLA is a team where either DTR has been out (2021) or just played poorly (2018/19) so they haven’t presented much of a problem for Utah. Should be a tough game next week against OSU…[Read more]

2008 National Champ replied to the topic Could Kuithe take a medical redshirt this year? in the forum Football 2 years, 10 months ago
I don’t think he would need a medical. He hasn’t used his redshirt yet (everyone got a free redshirt for 2020). The question would be whether he would want to.
Worst case would be an ACL/PCL which would take a year to fully recover from. It would be up to him whether to take the chance and enter the draft knowing that he would not be able to…[Read more]

2008 National Champ started the topic Confused about Bernard in the forum Football 2 years, 10 months ago
I keep hearing about how versatile Bernard is and it seems they are doing everything they can to limit his carries. Thomas was always going to be the bell cow if healthy and in the right head space. However, the first time he wasn’t “available”, RB3 Glover gets the start and QB3 gets more carries.
I can’t tell if they are turning him into Troy…[Read more]
