So I think its fair to say the Big-12 without Texas and Oklahoma are pretty weak in football compared to 2023 Pac-12.
That’s not really a fair comparison. Texas and Oklahoma are two of the top 3 programs in the Big-12 this year. From the opposite side, one could say remove Oregon and Washington from the Pac and 2023 looks pretty…[Read more]

2008 National Champ replied to the topic Rising turned down some big NIL offers to come back to Utah. in the forum Football 1 year, 8 months ago
after the recent decision by the Utah legislature (?, i forget the entity that the DNews went to) that public schools had to publish NIL contracts, even though the contracts are not with the schools, those figures are now public record.

I think people are overlooking Scalley’s micromanagement of the play calls also. The insistence on waiting until the last possible second to send in the defensive play call has been taken advantage of by other teams. And it’s been a recent phenomenon as I don’t remember the same issues with Lloyd and Sewell.
At some point you have to trust…[Read more]

Pete Carroll, whose only accomplishment prior to 2001 was being a bad NFL coach, had 7 seasons of 11 or more wins out of 9. And that was when you had to build a roster with only HS players.
The talent is already there at SC to have a dominant defense. They just need proper coaching. And great players like to be driven by their coaches. Watch…[Read more]

If the other QB’s in the room can’t beat him out, then he should definitely be QB1, 2, 3 or whatever spot it is that he earns.

2008 National Champ replied to the topic UCLA Blowing Out USC in the forum Football 1 year, 8 months ago
No one is immune to a bad hire, or even a series of bad hires. The biggest fallacy in sports is that resource + history = championships. New York Yankees, Boston Celtics, Alabama football.,, some of the most historically great franchises with seemingly unlimited resources have gone through extended periods of mediocrity because they bought in to…[Read more]

2008 National Champ replied to the topic We just don’t have that running back to compliment K-Whitt’s defense. in the forum Football 1 year, 8 months ago
I forget the actual numbers but I believe somewhere around 5% of high school football players go on to play D1 football and 5% of those go on to the pros. When you limit it just to P5 schools, you get closer to 1% in each metric. There’s just no way that any staff can be fully educated on more than half a million kids in any given year.
So many…[Read more]

The fact that he felt the need to tweet about it means that I saw what I saw. Which was Scalley off to Fisch’s right and then turning his back on him while he had his hand out. No need for damage control if it wasn’t obvious.

Utah still had their starters in the game so Arizona was justified in running any play they wanted.
Or as noted philosopher Bobby Bowden said: It’s not my job to keep my offense from scoring.

Stevie got himself into the league with that move. He was only going to be a backup at Utah so it was a great move.
Utah won’t be playing SC next year so why would it matter to Utah fan if Rising went there and blew up? If anything, it would be an indictment of the Utah offensive scheme if he was able to display currently unseen skills. I…[Read more]
