I like the idea of him getting more time this year to prepare for next year, for specific packages, red zone plays, certain situations. But what happens if he struggles and Troy needs to be put in the game? Then how is Troy going to handle it? Plus doesn’t Huntley need to put on weight?

In all seriousness, if this kid wants to play in the pros this is the best decision for him. The idea of a 25 year old junior sitting out a year for an infraction likely only unforgivable at BYU is insane. He needs to gtfo for his own career’s sake while there’s still time.

I do agree the part about his parents not knowing is fishy, but then again maybe the BYU people aren’t allowed to say what it is in front of them? This is a totally valid point. But those donors along with the school need to decide how much they value the football program. It’s not just about the players that have trouble living the honor code, but also the parts of it that look like bias to those considering their fit in a p5 conference. I just can’t honestly see how the program survives.
