Interesting POV for me were: Rising’s playmaking makes the offense go, run defense was suspect and bailed out by offense making competition play from behind, and scheme may dictate WR use and need.

Don’t think day 1 starter, Onlyu said we were looking for depth at safety and this is the guy. He’s not going to look/be as qualified as Bishop/Vaki/Ritchie because he’s coming in to back them up.

Proud, are you saying that 25-30 carries per game is your criteria for greatness? You mention it in both posts. Top NFL RB from 2022 (DHenry, JJacobs, NChubb, CMcCaffrey) averaged 14-20 carries per game. I don’t think the current game, pro or college, sees high carry count as a measuring stick for success and it indisputably shortens RB life.

Coaching staff has had more than 2 years to get the heir apparent ready and next man up is a walk on? No bueno.

Key ingredients to great Utah/anyone’s defense is stopping the run and getting front 4 pressure without help. This wasn’t the case last year. We struggled against run option and had to blitz more than we probably like. Has to change to take that next step. IMO we’re a good, but not yet great defense.

Budding stars and high potential players I’m excited about: Nate Johnson, Brandon Rose, JJ, John Randle, Mikey Matthews, Mbanasor, Yassmin, Fano brothers, Pepa, Kennedy, Damuni, Johnathan Hall, Vaughn, Ritchie, Vaki. I think several of these and others will stand out next season.

Tafua was not mayoral, more like the clerk of Sack Lake. He wasn’t a great pass rusher. Anae was our last great one (not on your list).

Good problem to have, best outcome for us right now. This isn’t Troy Williams vs Tyler Huntley. They would hand the ball to Rising, but would have the luxury of doing it selectively. Rising’s resume is 2x champion in 2 seasons at the helm. Three wins (two P5 wins) won’t unseat him.

With NFL in Utah tailgating would just go for another day. Win win win scenario. Seriously though, we’d be fine with the NFL in Utah. Our fan base is dedicated in large numbers, look at how we travel.

Snoop and Cam win games, Barnes manages games. Barnes’ Wazzu win looked nothing like Snoop’s win against UW or Cam’s win against USC. Interlocking U for me. It looks like to me there’s a conscious and gradual shift away from drum and feather. Just my view, I’ve seen nothing reported to this effect, but seems like interlocking U getting more use and exposure as of late.

Anyone out there that thinks Barnes’ ceiling is a P5 QB1? If not, then he is in the way.

IMO Barnes shouldn’t be in the running.
