The hell is this? Is this real? It’s so textbook zoob it could be a troll or real. Yikes. I really miss when we didn’t have to deal with these boneheads.

Because there has been a lot of complaining about the resources available to BYU now, and I think you need to remember that for 23 years the shoe was on the other foot.

Not sure why you posted this, or why you think the tide is turning in BYUs favor.

I’m a lifelong BYU supporter and wanted to share a fellow Cougar fan’s perspective from today’s Cougarboard. With BYU now leading the way athletically in Utah, I hope our friends in the Ute community can appreciate our excitement—and maybe cut us a little slack as the tide turns in our favor!

Yeah. This speaks as equally to the state of things with Utah football as it does the actual talent. You can be “wait and see” with the talent, which is a perfectly viable view but losing the number one designated WR (and another WR with Washington the same day) should throw up some concerns and red flags about Utah’s standing in the NIL era.
In…[Read more]

Point is probably moot, but if you care to go watch him in the UCF game.
I don’t put all my stock in stats, good or bad. I put little to no stock in what Whitt says. I put a lot more on what I see.
This is a money move and P2 has the money. Don’t be surprised if he goes P2, which should be, to a degree, a validation of his talent and potential.

Nobody is attacking anyone. These players get paid, which makes them professionals, and in my book, open to scrutiny. This young man in particular has baggage that he himself created and for right or wrong, is on display for the world to see. We, as a fan base, are certainly within bounds to discuss those issues, just as the producers of the…[Read more]

Agree he’s a loss if it’s your 3rd or maybe 2nd talented player in the WR rotation. I have a hard time endorsing ZW as a top level play maker loss based on a breakout game against UCF and 15 days of Spring football. I was somewhat surprised ZW, per KW, emerged as the #1 WR considering WR was a top portal priority.

For all those who are (rightly) fed up with NIL, the portal, and all the outside money ruining college sports, can I make a suggestion?
Start following one or more of the Olympic sports.
1. No NIL money, just scholarships. The way it used to be in football/basketball.
2. There’s a portal, but it’s being used for the right reasons. Not just to…[Read more] -

I think that there is a common misperception that the Jazz have more money to spend because Smith is a billionaire. They don’t. They still have the same salary limitations they’ve always have had. He can’t pay Jazz players more than the cap and he certainly doesn’t take it out of his own pocket. His families donations to BYU have no impact on the…[Read more]

Agree and disagree. Injury is always a huge factor, especially to starters. But ESPECIALLY for QB1 with Ludwig. QB2 was never prepared. There will always be a dropoff and QB2 getting up to speed, but with Ludwig’s ‘complicated’ system (Rose still hadn’t picked it up in 2 years?!), they had to go so vanilla, it was easy to defend. So, yes, it…[Read more]

I don’t really watch college sports beyond Utah. So most of the time it is me seeing highlights in social media or something.
I think that is the normal for most fans. I will watch games while waiting for Utah to come on and then maybe watch highlights to discuss things with my family or friends.
It certainly is what it is. I don’t see it get…[Read more] -

Not sure I get the indifference reaction. You want the best players on your team to stay on your team. To each their own I guess. Does anyone really think he was only going to bring 10 catches and a hundred yards to the table this season? Everyone isn’t productive until they are. He was clearly talented and just needs an opportunity to showcase t…[Read more]

And honestly, the only power we fans gave is to stop watching and engaging. I, for one, refuse to watch a Big-10 or SEC game. They are destroying sport, so I won’t watch them. Unfortunately, too many big12 or acc or other conference fans will watch.
I won’t blame any of you one bit if you abandoned college sports. You make excellent points…[Read more]

I’ll just say this: college football has the right to go in whatever direction they want to. College football players have the right to chase NIL $$. The courts have the right to strike down any attempt to regulate the transfer portal or NIL earnings. ESPN has the right to control the playoff structure and conference makeup.
I, as a long…[Read more]

Screw it. I am close to just giving up on college sports. It is so messed up. I hate what has happened with the NIL and portal. I need to separate myself from this mess. I was a Ute fan during the 1-10 seasons of the 1970s and enjoyed it. But, this crap is out of hand.
I have never been a casual Ute fan, but this may be what I will be…[Read more]
