I call BS. If a player is not in the portal and has agreed to the value assigned by the university he should be under contract. NIL should deal with advertising and using the players name and likeness to sell jerseys and promote business and products. NIL is just a way around play for pay. If you think your value is higher enter the portal and…[Read more]

The trickiest player with which to install the new offense is the decision making QB- and it isn’t new for him. So I am hoping that instilling the new offense will be easier than in the past.

Myself, I lean more toward the first take.
I expect the OL to be much better. All have another year of development. Lomu in particular will be better coming from just beginning with playing time to the player he became at the end of the year. I see the most settled OL that I have see in forever. QB1 is better and I expect that the offensive…[Read more]

I do agree with many of these points. Health is always an issue for any team.
But DD is not Risng (injury wise I mean), of course he could get hurt. But thus far he has not show me to be injury prone.
Again, I think many of you undervalue how tough it is to win @ RES.
ASU, TT, KSU, CU all come here.
I could see us losing to Baylor, Kansas,…[Read more]

BeachUte,
Overall, you may be right – I think 8-4 is a good year, 9-3 creeping toward great. Both of those records seem to make sense to me.I don’t agree with your defense point – too much is coming back to call it an overhaul. Gents, Lander Barton may be the best defensive player in the Big-12 this season. Just like Dampier on offense, we need…[Read more]

I don’t think anything is a stretch at this point (in terms of regular season record). We are an injury or two away from having a losing record. On the flip side of that, if Dampier improves in his decision making a little bit, and we don’t have any catastrophic injuries, there is a very real chance we make it to the Big12 championship.
Is it a…[Read more]

It’s simple: Utah has way too many questions for someone to day, “9-3 easily”. Love the optimism and I think 9-3 is possible with a few breaks but no, it’s not “easy”. That implies it’ll be the floor – and that Utah could even do better than 9-3. I’m extremely skeptical Utah can do better than 9-3 and it’s again because of the questions that we…[Read more]

I’m with you on 9-3. Though not quite as enthusiastically. A whole new offense can take a while to install. It helps that we have a few people who know it already, But, its definitely a question. Also, I think the conference has some teams who have vastly improved liked Texas Tech and Baylor. That said I expect BYU and Arizona State to take a step…[Read more]

Nothing is ever easy with Utah Football. I will be drinking no koolaid. Instead I will wait and see, and hope for the best.

Proud.
#2 our Dline with Vaka is fine. #95 was a starter and got hurt v Baylor so at the very least we are equal. Depth may be in issue. But I like the guys behind them.
Losing Calhoun was a blow. Prob the only blow I see TBH
But our safeties are going to be incredible. TJ is an NFL safety and Evans came from Juco but by the end of the year…[Read more]

The Miami Ute replied to the topic UCLA seating in the forum Football 3 weeks, 5 days ago
For sure…put it to you this way, the Rose Bowl has a capacity of over 92K and UCLA averaged an attendance of 46K (that’s not how many people actually went to games, just tickets sold) in 2024. Watching them over the years, the vast majority of their home games have a lot of empty seats in the stands.

Free agency shouldn’t apply to rostered players with NIL deals. It doesn’t in pro sports. You want to be a free agent and test your market value? Decommit from your school and NIL deal and enter the portal. Until then you don’t get answers to the test.

Current price is $122 per ticket on resellers. I expect it to drop.

2008 National Champ replied to the topic 7-5 is what I have the Utes at this season in the forum Football 3 weeks, 5 days ago
completely on the offense?
The first drive after Utah scored to make it 10-16 in the 4th quarter, the defense twice had Arizona in 3rd and 11 situations. The first ended up with a 41 yard completion. The 2nd ended up with a 35 yard TD catch.
No one is claiming that the 2024 offense was anything but putrid after the 1st quarter of the Baylor…[Read more]

It isn’t tampering. NIL deals, be definition, are not based on a kid attending a specific school. That would be pay-to-play which is illegal under the NCAA bylaws. NIL deals can follow a kid to whatever school he chooses. So potential interest can be couched as “boy, if you were in this market we think you could maximize your NIL much more so…[Read more]

Total BS. If agents can contact other agents and offer more $$ isn’t that tampering? What’s the difference? These players can get offers without being in the portal. Why enter the portal? Shop around and find the best offer then enter the portal.
The system isn’t working. It is only benefiting the players and agents at the cost of the unive…[Read more]

I admire your enthusiasm, I really do. But, I don’t completely agree. A couple of counterpoints.
1. We had a great Oline last season, yet … I understand our QB play was terrible. I blame the coaching staff for that.
2. Our defense lost a lot of key players. Our LB starters are good and very experienced. Our safeties should be okay.…[Read more]

Love your enthusiasm. Could be a great year, could be a middling year as far as I can tell. The B12 does not have a team stacked with elite starters and elite prospects backing up the starters. So it is hard to be certain about who will succeed.
If the balls bounce our way a bit, and we stay relatively healthy, and Dampier/Beck ball out- it will…[Read more]
