you are referring to eligibility, not scholarship numbers. Ritchie and Fotu absolutely counted against the 2020 scholarship cap of 85.
I agree that they should not count against the cap while on their missions. It is the details that I am not clear on. Do they stop being counted the first quarter/semester that they are not enrolled? Do they start being counted when they re-enroll? Or is it based on the school year, i.e. would they not be eligible to participate in team activities until the beginning of summer term 2023?
mil per year or perhaps discounted in a one time payment, perhaps 25%? the buyout could be maybe 4.5 mil one time. I believe the actual buyout contract is 3 mil per year and his contracted last date is June 30th 2023. The question is, do you bite the bullet after this year or go one more year?
What about this scenario? Bite the bullet after this year and pay K the 1.5 mil per year buyout and bump Conner from 500k up to 1 mil (or get Randy Rahe) and give him a year or two to prove his worth. In this scenario, you are paying 2.5 mil per year total, which is less then Coach K’s current salary if you don’t do the buyout.
His contract is until June 30, 2023, right? Less 1/17/2021 is 894 days / 365 = 2.45 years. So is it 2 years after this year?
Utah can’t afford a name coach right now that would want 3 mil a year but at the same time you can’t keep Larry just because he has a winning record.
2 NCAA bids in ten years is not good enough.
Utah will have to hire an up and comer at coach and Bryant wants to coach here
Barring a deep deep tournament run in the next two years Larry is not going to be Utah’s Head Basketball Coach for the 2023-24 season.

Unfortunately not. He’s locked in until 2023 with a ridiculous buyout that we’d never pay to get rid of him. We’re stuck with Larry.
I wish we were flush with cash and could just eat the buyout and move on. But unfortunately I think we have to live with this mess and Larry as our coach until 2023. But I don’t care if he somehow gets a PAC 12 title in his final year or a Sweet 16 run, he needs to go no matter what IMO.
Agree. The prorated buyout is $7.5mm (2.5 years x $3mm per year). His final contract date is 6/30/2023. Here’s the thing about Larry, he’s done it before. Delon and Poeltl in the tourney was awesome. Those were good recruits, that was a good team. That’s the expectation. I do appreciate that Larry appears to run a very clean program. There is some heartache from recruits like Markenan that very much look like they got paid and therefore didn’t come to Utah. Guess we can just support the team the best we can and hope things improve.
Wow, this is AMAZING news! Sorry for being late to the party…I’m on the east coast and had gone to bed and being that it’s Sunday, I got to sleep in.
