I have not done any research on this or checked any draft predictions.  These are just my gut feelings about where our players will be drafted.

      First Round

Lloyd – He should be a first-rounder and probably the second or third LB drafted.

      Third thru fifth round

Ford – Can play any position on the line

Tafua – Not sure about this one, but maybe 5th round

      Sixth or seventh round

BAM – He is huge and strong.  Still has a lot to learn, but I think a team will take a chance on him.

Sewell – I believe he has proved himself enough to get picked late.

Late round or free agent pickup

Fotheringham – Great blocker who can catch

Covey – Some team will take a chance on him.  He may even get picked late in the draft IMO.  I hope he makes a team.

Pledger – He will get a chance to make a team as a free agent

Howard – I think he will get a tryout

Anae went 5th round.  Dimick UDFA.  College career stats:

      Anae – 39 games/40 TFL/30 sacks

      Dimick – 39 games/42 TFL/28 sacks

      Tafua – 42 games/32 TFL/17 sacks

There’s a chance Tafua is UDFA.

I think so. I don’t think he has the size or the strength the NFL is looking for. He’s gonna have to have a killer combine/pro day/workout, or whatever it is.

As I wrote in my initial post – I am not sure about this one.  Your examples are valid and he may be a free agent.

You’re good, this is for fun.  We’re all guessing.  For all I know my Raiders take him in the first round, wouldn’t be the first time they shock the draft world.

I don’t know that Bam is too much different from Bolles. He may be a bit more raw, but he also lacks the bad habits and poor discipline that Bolles had. Combine his size and love of dishing out pain, I’d place him at 3-5.

Mostly, I need spring football to come quick.

Honestly, I would not be shocked to see him go in the 3rd or 4th round because of his size and strength.  But, since he is a project of sorts – I am not sure he will go that high.

It will be interesting to see where he goes. What I think is interesting about Bam is how he became physically dominant by the end of the season. At the beginning, he still looked lost. It will be interesting to see if teams are willing to gamble based on his tape from the last couple of games. Physically dominant and huge left tackles are pretty rare.

Clearly you don’t know.  G. Bolles put up all time overall combine numbers for an offensive lineman and all his film was putting someones dick in the dirt, not two years of film where he was raising draft stock for edge rushers in the Pac12.  I am proud of Bam and his progress but the only thing that they have in common as players was the logo on the side of the helmet.  If Bam runs a sub 5 he will get a look, otherwise he is a UDFA.

Re-reading my comment, I overstated the similarities between the two. I agree completely that there are huge differences between the two, that is why I said I think Bam is a round 3-5 guy, whereas Bolles was a round 1 guy. But there are also significant similarities in the way that peak Bam at the end of the season was physically dismantling almost everyone opposite to him. That dismantling reminded me of what Bolles did to people, hence the comparison.

I thought McKinney had a fairly good season. Do any of you think he’ll get a shot as an UDFA?

Yes, he will get a shot IMO.  However, I doubt that he makes a team.

Appreciate the interactive post to get us one day closer to Spring Ball :)!

IMO, highly doubt Tafuna or Sewell get drafted. From a fans perspective, somewhat surprised Tafuna opted for the NFL. Much more to it I’m sure. Tafuna and Sewell were both great college level players. Both lack the strength, size and speed for their positions to be considered as NFL draft level players. Tafuna has the best shot at making a team of the two. Guessing Sewell will get a FA look, but won’t make a team. Lloyd 1st round. Covey and Pledger have a solid chance to get drafted late.

I think Covey might get drafted as well, which is crazy given his size. Is there anyone in the league playing at his size or close to it?

His quickness is obviously the compensating factor, out of this world quickness. Assuming he gets invited, I expect he’ll challenge the all time combine shuttle record.

Cole Beasley is listed at 5’8″ 174 lbs and Britain Covey is listed at 5’8″ 170. That’s the closest I know of. Beasley has made a nice career for himself too. He’s a key player and isn’t just there for punt returns.

Tarik Cohen is 5’6″, 169 pounds and Deonte Harris is 5’6″, 170.

Steve Smith and Wes Welker were both 5’9″, 185 and DeSean Jackson was 5’10”, 175.

All of those guys have played a major role as a pass catcher, but every one of them also got their start as a returner (as did Beasley), so that’s 100% his path.

Would help a lot if he could add about ten pounds of good weight and keep his speed

BC didn’t receive an invite to the combine. He’ll have to show up at the pro day.

Everything I posted is speculation on my part except Lloyd who everyone knows will get picked high.

I added Sewell and Tafua to the list because – both had good years, they got a lot of publicity, and I figured neither would have left early unless they honestly felt they would get drafted.  I assumed (could be wrong) that they both went to some kind of service in the know and learned they had a good chance to get drafted.  I hope for their sake that they do get drafted> I would hate to see them lose their senior year for nothing.

Covey is another story.  He wants to get on with his life and before he moves on to coaching, he wants to give the NFL a try.  He knows that his chances are not high.  But, with his knowledge, ability, and grit – I would give him a try.

If I recall correctly, Tafua is a returned missionary. If he sticks around a other year, it won’t increase his draft stock and he’ll be a year older. It is time for him to take his shot at the NFL.

Yeah, that makes sense for him declare now. I forgot Tafuna was a return mission kid.

Some coach like Belachek will give Covey a shot. Would not be surprised if the Rams or Cardinals picked up Covey.

If you start at Utah it’s pretty much a guarantee that you get a udfa chance if you want it.
