2023 Schedule hasn’t been released yet. If you are looking at FBS schedules dot com, they list the unscheduled away games first and then the home.
It makes no sense that the conference can’t come up with schedules for each two year cycle at one time but Pac-12 gonna Pac-12. I assume they think they are smart enough to manipulate the matchups in…[Read more]

Penix announced he is coming back. Williams also has to spend another year so I’m not sure why you think USC would take a step back.

I’m not sure we are that far apart on Taylor. You said one of their best ever and I said maybe not in their top 10. Both of those statements can be true at the same time. For me, Taylor was the standard QB who put up big passing numbers playing for bad teams who had to throw the ball a lot because they were always behind. I saw a lot of those…[Read more]

I guess it comes down to what you value. 2-9-0, 3-6-2, 5-5-1, 4-7-0. Those are Cal’s records for the 4 years in question. Being a 4 year starter is going to get you high on the counting stat lists even on bad teams and my memory of those teams was them running mostly west coast which inflated passing stats. After Taylor left, Cal finally…[Read more]

2008 National Champ replied to the topic Punter, placekicker in the forum Football 2 years, 8 months ago
when i put “are pac-12 scholarships guaranteed” into the google-ator, all responses are from 2014. So it doesn’t appear as if there has been a change. As I understand it, a school no longer has to honor the scholarship once the athlete asks them to put his name into the portal, but assuming that doesn’t happen and the student is in good standing…[Read more]

That doesn’t sound right about the scholarships. Gay was obviously a walk-on at first but I have a hard time believing that Hackett, Wishnowsky or any other Aussies would come to Utah on their own dime. Then again, I haven’t been wrong yet this week so I might as well get it over with now.,,

*cough* Aaron Rogers, Jared Goff, Davis Webb… That’s off the top of my head. Don’t make me drop Kyle Boller, Joe Kapp or Nate Longshore. I’m not sure Taylor makes their top ten.
That being said, Taylor has done a great job at Sac State and could have had a lot of success at Utah if he didn’t play mad scientist and introduce a new formation…[Read more]

2008 National Champ replied to the topic Who is the leader of our defense? in the forum Football 2 years, 8 months ago
If you base it on who the team has made available for post-game press conferences, that has been Karene Reid. In 2021 it was pretty much Rising/Lloyd along with whoever was the star of that game. 2022 hasn’t been as consistent for the defense but it seems like Reid is who the staff is putting out there to speak.

2008 National Champ replied to the topic 2022 Satisfaction Level in the forum Football 2 years, 8 months ago
That simple rule change ended up benefitting Utah greatly in terms of bowl income, prestige, potentially recruiting. As Utah fans, we are feeling pretty good about ourselves right now. But if I’m being honest, if we were operating under the old rule, I would probably be as mad as I was in 2015 when a really good but not great Utah got relegated…[Read more]

Background: On May 18, 2022 the NCAA eliminated their stipulation that Conferences with 12 or more teams be split into divisions to determine their respective Conference Champion. Two days later, the Pac-12 eliminated divisions and adjusted their rules to allow the top two teams by record (and new tie-breakers if necessary) to compete in the…[Read more]

2008 National Champ replied to the topic Film session with Lincoln Riley in the forum Football 2 years, 8 months ago
It shouldn’t have amazed you. 2022 USC was a carbon copy of Riley’s years at Oklahoma. Have a potent enough offense to get you through the regular season with one loss and hope you don’t face the one team with enough offense and defense in the championship game so you make the playoff. But for an extremely unlikely Oregon State 4th quarter…[Read more]

11 P5’s and Weber State. Trade Stanford/WSU for Cal/UW. Open with Florida then go to Waco.
Expected departures: Rising, Kuithe, Kincaid, Phillips, Diabate, Enis, Dixon, Daniels (?), G. Reid
Given only that with the expectation that some teams will be expected to improve (Arizona, UW, Colorado), some should take a step back (UCLA, Oregon…[Read more]

I’m not sure why people keep saying that Bernard is leaving after this year. He was in the class of 2019 so he should have two years of eligibility if he wants to use it. And while I love his skillset, I don’t think he’s done enough to warrant a high draft grade at this point.
3rd down backs are a dime a dozen in the NFL. Maybe if he had shown…[Read more]

It was fair to both sides, it just seemed worse since they finished with the SC hype and then had their two USC “commentators” pick them. But if you really watched, Urban got the last laugh. Take the 41-7 Utah advantage over the last 3 quarters and don’t worry about TV being TV.
Now if you really want to worry about something, how about asking…[Read more]
