  • There are two reasons.
    1. Utah has a very limited number of scholarships.  They had planned on Moa going on a mission first.  When he decided that he would not be going on a mission – this threw a wrench in the press.  I am not suggesting that this issue could not be worked out, but it did cause everyone involved to rethink things.

  • Now it is even.  It appears Utah fans are out-betting ASU fans.

    Go Utes!!!

  • We saw a different offense on Saturday night.  Was this because we played a team in turmoil?  Have we resolved some issues?  Bill Riley seems to think that the offensive line is the difference.  They certainly looked better than they had, but what really changed?
Looking at ASU – I don’t see any real patterns.  They have had some games where…[Read more]

I was much more impressed with Rising compared to what I saw against WSU.  I hope his improvement continues.
I liked the offensive play calling and that we passed downfield.
Tavion IMO should be RB1.  I know he has had a few fumbles, but this guy is our best RB IMO.
Oline is improving, especially in pass blocking.
I have some mixed feelings…[Read more]

  • to attend the funeral for Aaron Lowe.  Good for the university for doing this.  They will fly out for the funeral Monday morning and return that night.  It also sounds like Alaska Airlines is working with the university to make this happen.
This will make a short week of prep for the ASU game.  At least we are at home.

  • He’s a stud. I am glad he is a Ute!

  • I know some of you aren’t ready to discuss football at this point, and I respect that.  However, we will continue to play in spite of the tragedy early Sunday morning.
My grades for the entire game:
Defense – B+  I know that we held them to 13 points and 7 of those came on a short field.  I realize that many of you would give them a higher…[Read more]

  • It makes losing a football game seem so petty.
I am so sorry for his family, friends, teammates, and coaches.

  • Good
    – We won
    – TJ Pledger
    – Another great linebacker was unveiled today and Lloyd was and is the man
    – Eight sacks
    – Three interceptions
    Bad
    – I don’t think Rising is our future.  He made a lot of bad passes.
    – We didn’t hold WSU to one three-and-out until 10 minutes to go in the game.  That is not Utah football.
    Ugly
    – Red zone…[Read more]

  • Portland State’s offense played better against WSU.  AND, our defense – wow they look bad.  Fortunately, we did not break but we let these guys control the ball and ToP.
I do not get it.  We have the recruits, experience, coaches.  Why have our Utes fallen so badly???  This is not the team we are accustom to.
I know we are ahead 7-6 but this WSU…[Read more]

  • Wow, we are terrible.  There is NO way to spin anything positive out of this crap.
Two out of conference losses back to back.  That equals our total OOC losses in ten years.
I saw better effort from the players in our back-to-back 1-10 seasons in the mid-70s.
Oh well, it’s just football, right?

  • But, this is so much worse on offense.  For heaven’s sakes – New Mexico State passed for over 300 yards against these guys.  I cannot remember such an anemic effort by our offense in so many years I cannot remember.
They need to start Rising in the second half just for a change of pace.  I know that Brewer is not the biggest problem, but…[Read more]

  • Reggie Bush and others in the media like the idea.
Deion has very little coaching experience, but he is a guy with personality, playing experience, and fire in his belly.  It would be a risk for USC.  But, it could also bring huge rewards.  Most people think he would be a great recruiter.  He could surround himself with great coaching talent.  If…[Read more]

  • I guess he does a 30-minute show on ESPN700 every week.  What a great young man and his perspective gives me some hope for this team.
He said the biggest problem with the game Saturday was turnovers on the first two possessions.  Only 3 points came from these turnovers, but it hurt the continuity and confidence of the players.  Also, the coaches…[Read more]

  • I want to feel good about our football team.  I saw very little last Saturday to make me optimistic about this team.  I really liked what I saw from Bernard.  He had a solid game.  From what I could tell – Lloyd played okay.  We were beat up and outsmarted at LES.
Please give me some tidbits about why we should be excited about this team.  Will…[Read more]

  • He said that he felt very sad about losing.
I thought to myself, wow, you have won everything including 57 consecutive grand slam matches – you should be thrilled with where you are at.
Then I thought to myself – I felt terrible because for the first time since 2009 – we lost to the cougs.  I will get over this loss, but it stings.  I guess I…[Read more]

BYU wore us down, and our rushing D was not good in the 2nd half
We have 6 offensive linemen that we like
Bam will continue to play if he continues to do what he should in practice
It’s a learning process with Tavion.  He has a big upside.  Fumbling is a problem.
There is not enough carries to go around to all 4 RBs
    On offense, our biggest…[Read more]

  • Yes, last night was a disaster.  Regardless of our uninspired play last night, it in NO way takes away from what KW and Utah have accomplished over the last 20 years.  We have two undefeated seasons and a 9 game losing streak against the cougs.  Last night was painful to watch and somehow I hope we see a different team next weekend.  Nonetheless,…[Read more]
