DataUte replied to the topic Will I need ESPN+ for Utah football and what’s the best route to get it? in the forum Football 3 months, 1 week ago
I have bundled Disney+/Hulu/ESPN+. I pay about $27 a month. I use an AMEX Blue Everyday card and they give me like $7 back for the bundle plus 6% cash back.
I had Hulu before, then added commercial free. I got Disney+ for the kids right before it came out and got it for like $4/mo for 2 years by paying up front. But had to wait for that to expire…[Read more]

1. BYU, CU – others will rotate too much to be there, but agree TCU might become one just because of MWC history
2. KSU – similar styles, OK St. – have always been solid
3. Texas Tech for sure. Road games to Cinci, WVU, UCF
4. UCF. Great recruiting grounds, so they’ll have talent. We won’t play them as much, but when we do, hope we play later in…[Read more]
DataUte replied to the topic Put on your coaching hat. Rotation going forward. in the forum Basketball (Men) 3 months, 1 week ago
Keba is a beast, but either the coach will limit his minutes or he will. With a quick foul or two, he’s on the bench until late in the 1st half. So, if going in 3 minutes in helps get the game flowing and seeing how the refs are calling things, it could yield more minutes. He certainly makes the minutes he plays count, so not the worst thing to…[Read more]

My wife bags on me for having so many sports/school shirts. It’s only about half now ;). If I’m going to a game as a fan of that game, usually I just wear whatever and enjoy the game. But that’s just me. I think the whole ‘reppin’ the school at Disneyland’ is stupid too. If it’s the t-shirt I brought, ok, I wear it, but I don’t plan to do some…[Read more]

That is a crazy stat. He didn’t allow a sack because he was holding ;).

He was also familiar with Penix as he was backup (or 3rd) at Indiana the same time. Boy, he seems to have been around a long time to never start anywhere. 4*? nah
DataUte replied to the topic Can we avoid a mass exodus when Whitt retires? in the forum Football 3 months, 2 weeks ago
Well, if it’s this year, half the team will leave. Mostly because they are Seniors ;). But that does provide new playing opportunities for the rest, so hopefully that keeps many. Defense shouldn’t see as much attrition if Scalley gets named. Might depend on the OC how many offensive players stay.
I do like a clear succession plan which creates…[Read more]

counter-argument: they are a great home team, so wouldn’t fans want to show up and see that?
DataUte replied to the topic Sorry I don’t get the AZ Hype in the forum Football 3 months, 3 weeks ago
True, but putting the pieces back together in Seattle and being successful in 1st Big 10 year might be a bigger lift than just continuing with what he has and having another 10 win season.
DataUte replied to the topic Taeshaun Lyons in the forum Football 3 months, 3 weeks ago
Yep, and we shouldn’t underestimate the ability of a good QB to ‘throw his receiver open’. The WR has to make adjustments, but good ones will. When the throw is late, defended, or behind the WR, it’s harder to catch even those that target them. Barnes was often late or threw only if he saw them open, not right before they came open.

But even Bolles, as great as he was, was good for a holding call or two every game. Didn’t really clean that up until his 3rd year in the league.
DataUte replied to the topic Dorian Singer?? in the forum Football 3 months, 3 weeks ago
Time to update the notion (at least for this year). Amongst the legal wranglings and to give clarity for athletes to enter the portal, it’s a freebie transfer at least for 2024 season. TBD afterwards, but the same reason they let D. Smith play without the threat of it being taken away (and losing a year of eligibility), they…[Read more]

Graduate transfer, yes. And, as we’ve seen in basketball, D. Smith and others are playing as court cases challenge this. I frankly thing they shouldn’t get even 1 free transfer without coach/family health/extenuating circumstance reasons, but oh well.
Someone like Malachi could get a Comms degree (like JJ) in a shorter time, so could play 2…[Read more]

Simply put, he is not going to sit another year. Sounds like USC saw what they had and he wasn’t that good, sitting at 3 behind Miller. For him it is clear: Playing Time >> $$$ (Miami). I kind of admire that. Shuns the current mercenary environment.
DataUte replied to the topic Bryson Barnes to Utah State in the forum Football 3 months, 3 weeks ago
Bryson will be a Senior, 21, and married at 19. Maybe staying relatively close to home but getting a different opportunity/experience (even if he has to fight even to be the backup) will be good. Doesn’t seem like he has the tools to play at the next level, so maybe a different system is good just to get exposure. Not sure if he wants to get into…[Read more]

I think more then depth. He likely will start. He did so for Stanford and was honorable mention PAC12. He’s coming to Utah to get our top-notch development at these positions and polish off his resume to get drafted.
DataUte replied to the topic Utes get commitment from Gilman in the forum Football 3 months, 3 weeks ago
Feeling a whole lot better about the DB room. Seemed like that was a weak spot with NFL, transfers, etc. Now it is really solid with strength at the top and depth to deal with any injuries.
