Watching film and discussing his future.  Not sure where that goes if anywhere but my understanding is it’s either here or Wazzou.

If he behaves, I’m all for it. He’s a good player that could make an impact. Of course, he would have the “one strike” rule like Carrington did.

Yep. If the coaching staff thinks he’s talented enough to give this chance and he follows their rules, glad to have him.

I agree.  I have no problem with someone getting a “fresh start” or “second chance” as long as they are aware of the consequences if they abuse the privilege.  I know I made my fair share of mistakes at that age.

Plus, it would be entertaining to watch the BYU fans who said FB should be given another chance at BYU to pull out thier pitchforks because Utah is giving him another chance.

That’s a damn shame, that [explicit] stain doesn’t deserve to wear the Drum & Feather. To use, “I’ll go play for Utah”, as a drunken threat… very disappointed that he even got a meeting.

I have a question, and the question absolutely sucks in asking it, but it is what today’s reality is.

You are against Bernard coming to Utah. I’d assume you were against Carrington as well, because what he did was worse.

Since you are against these type of “risk” players, are you ok with going 9-4, 8-5 every year?

If we pass on the OCCASSIONAL talent, like Carrington or Bernard, will you be ok with Whitt still being our coach in 5 years if we haven’t won a PAC-12 title?

This is a great question. The way I see it, if Utah doesn’t take him then another Pac12 team will. We’re not going to compete with teams who are willing to cheat to get players so I’m ok with picking up the occasional “bad egg”.

Not even the same comparison Bernard literally made an ass out of himself. Then tried to use leaving to another school as leverage against LEOs.

Carrington did have a trouble path of redemption. For me the story does resonate. Bernard never had any intention of following the honor code.

Bernard is no Carrington talent. There is a risk-reward trade-off to weigh.

Bernard will play on Sunday’s.  He is an NFL talent with his size and speed without question.

He still has much to do to be eligible between school, court obligations and financial challenges but he is “finally growing up” and appears to be working hard to get there this summer.

If he continues down a better path and works to change his ways he will be welcomed with open arms.  There is nothing more important or gratifying than helping a kid leave his demons behind.  It’s up to him but similar to DC if he wants to change this staff will help him to do that.  A fact I’m extremely proud of.

I heard yesterday that all of BYU’s problems last year were because of Bernard. Ha ha. Stupid Dick Harmon. The man is an idiot.

That mentality of that group of people. They have no need for facts when they can conjure up an enemy, claim discrimination and go grab their pitchforks.

Its served them well for a long time. Ha ha.

Francis came up to the U upon returning from his mission and wanted to come to the U.  We didn’t have money to give him and financially he couldn’t make it work (he had school paid for at TDS) so he went back there and performed well.  He took the fall for two Senior teammates (one a former player at the U #21) after they broke curfew (partying) at the bowl game against WYO because it was their last game and he was a Soph.  The incident where he lost his composure on video was him getting “tattled”on by a RA.  Didn’t handle it well but anywhere else it’s no big deal.  Maybe an underage drinking ticket…not very uncommon in college.  Then he made a huge mistake with the DWI…which is something he’ll have to pay for a long time.

He’s got a lot of growing up to do for sure but is worth giving another chance IMO

Boobies Hobbs got a DUI last year as well so not a big deal for Whitt. Everyone acts like DUIs are pretty awful but they are class Bs for a reason.

I am referring to how he has acted for a very long time.

I hope he gets in here — From my looking at it after the bowl game deal the y wanted him out and he wanted out of there — If he will fly right I think will be good.

At least he hasn’t racked up 4 alcohol related incidents…

Give him a shot. He’s a kid. He’ll learn. He’s gotta know Utah might be his last shot. Not sure anyone out of state will touch him if he messes up again. It’s one thing to get dropped from BYU. There are a lot of factors that may or may not go into that. Getting dismissed from a secular institution for a second offense? That will not look good. At all.
