I just looked at their team stats.
Their QB is basically Bryson Barnes. They’ve given up more than twice as many sacks as us this year (4 sacks per game). They have passed for 400 yards more than us this year.
They have run for a total of just over 1000 yards this year, less than half of our yearly total.
Our offense is about 50 yards per game…[Read more]

I have to believe the team wouldn’t be doing this if it was going to impact his availability next year. I’m sure they’ve done their homework.

yeah… that’s basically my point. He’s a good player, and I want him on the team, but if is going to cost more than he’s worth to keep him, let him go (assuming a booster would be willing to throw that same amount of money at another player we needed more).
separate point: it feels like the same dudes have been front and center on the team for a…[Read more]

What about his production this year suggests he’s elite? 4.8 yards per carry is good, but it isn’t elite. Jaylon glover averaged 4.2 yards per carry, and I’ve been under the impression that he not close to elite. Does .6 ypc make up the difference from adequate to elite? I don’t think so.
JJ may have elite potential, but you gotta be on the field…[Read more]

I think I would rather let him walk, and spend that NIL money on another player. We have plenty of running backs with talent, and it will be exciting to see what they can accomplish. Also, if we are going to entice any good receiver to come, we are going to need all the NIL money we can get. We could also spend NIL money on an experienced safety,…[Read more]

I’m more excited for this bowl game than I have been for any game since Oregon State TBH. It will be nice to get to see some fresh bodies in there for once. I’m most interested to see what Ritchie and Hall can do at the two safety spots. A lot of people have been really high on Ritchie, but I just haven’t been all that impressed with what he’s…[Read more]

Keita is great… but according to the ESPN box score he had 5 fouls in 10 minutes. WTF? My guess is, he’d be starting, or at least getting the same minutes as Lovering if he could stay on the court.

It is not revisionist, its just correct. Sitake wasn’t a bad DC, he wasn’t great though. He was just fine… and with Whitt as head coach I think just about any DC that was willing to do what Whitt wanted would be at least average.
There was at least one very important game every year where he completely crapped the bed with his game plan. It is…[Read more]

I don’t care that he coaches at TSPP. He’s a nice enough guy. I have no problem with him as a person, but he wasn’t a great coach for us. Those of you saying he was a good DC need to go back and look at how things went for us back then. It was clear that he was a placeholder DC until Scalley was ready.

It is going to be hard to attract people who are leaving places where they didn’t get playing time to come here to be backups. We have very few positions where the starters aren’t already decided. The only position where we are in desperate need of better talent is WR, and no wide receiver that is good enough to get Rising’s attention consistently…[Read more]

We don’t need to continue debating this. Time will tell. He is not an offensive centerpiece and never will be. That isn’t his game. I like forward to bringing this up in a year or two.

I wonder what is going on with recruiting lately. Seems like we are competing with nobodies for the last couple of commits we’ve received. (note: I’m not bashing anyone, or claiming the sky is falling, just wondering what the deal is).

The fact that Keita scored 23 points once doesn’t mean he is capable of being the offensive focal point on a good basketball team. I’m sure Keita will continue to improve. He is a great player. He knows his role, and does it well. His role is not, and will almost certainly never be that of the offensive focal point. He gets his points off of doing…[Read more]

Yes… Keita is a high school recruit from Smith’s first offseason. Keita can score points, but he will never be the offensive focal point of our team. He gets a lot of points off of put backs and other hustle plays.
Exacte averaged 3 pts on 33% shooting last year. Maybe he’ll get better, but he was not a heralded recruit, and he was not good…[Read more]
