2008 National Champ replied to the topic According to 24/7 seven of our top 20 ranked recruits… in the forum Football 2 years, 4 months ago
What I find interesting is that people love to cherry pick with a few names of kids who outperform their recruiting rankings because they think it shows how good the staff is at development. But the same analysis never seems to happen the other way. How about a bust list? There’s 4 names a the top of the 2021 rankings which disprove your…[Read more]

2008 National Champ replied to the topic Why the PAC should invite Hawaii in the forum Football 2 years, 4 months ago
From the Hawaii perspective, it’s a huge win
That’s really the only perspective that would view that proposal a win. 8 Pac teams agree to an extra “conference” road game every year? There is no benefit to anyone but Hawaii. They get the added prestige of being considered P5 equivalent, they get at least 2/3 of their games at home where e…[Read more]

2008 National Champ replied to the topic QB controversy in the forum Football 2 years, 4 months ago
Follow up: In the original scenario, game 3 is actually the decider not game 4 since it’s a throwaway game. You give an 80% Rising some backup snaps against Weber to get his feet under him and shake off the cobwebs. What you are looking at is his mobility: can he move around well enough to buy time because if he is a statue, he’s going to get…[Read more]

Need a little more context on Rising being back at the end of September. Does that mean cleared by the doctor’s to resume full activity or game ready? I’m assuming you mean game ready but if the situation is that we would really be talking about game 6 or 7 I think Rising becomes “break glass in case of emergency” instead of “returning…[Read more]

2008 National Champ replied to the topic 22 Forever thoughts in the forum Football 2 years, 4 months ago
I understand that people can get fatigued when hearing from the same voice or the same phrase repeatedly. For me, I don’t need to ever hear how Cam Rising is the Alpha again, and I got tired of 7 years of Britain Covey being the go-to for everything Utah. It didn’t lessen my enjoyment of watching those two kids and appreciate everything they…[Read more]

Says Utah is still in the mix but plans on taking his 5 officials before deciding again this summer.

2008 National Champ replied to the topic Lucky to have Coach Whitt! in the forum Football 2 years, 4 months ago
Just to make sure I’m understanding you, the problem for Utah was depth. And the person in charge of making sure the team had the correct depth is not to be critiqued on that aspect of his job?
It’s Whitt’s program and has been for the last 18 years. He either gets the appropriate plaudits for it’s success as well as the appropriate criticism…[Read more]

Can you define “calling for his head?” I know that I stated before the 2020 season was cancelled that Whitt had not met his own stated seasonal goals since joining the PAC 9 years earlier. If it’s not fair to judge a man by the standard(s) he sets for himself, I’m not sure what is.
Sounds like revisionist history to claim that there weren’t…[Read more]

Perhaps I’m mistaken since I’m an old guy who may not be as tech savvy as I should be, but isn’t this thread in the “football” section? Seems weird to go to the football section and complain that people have an interest in talking about.,, football.

2008 National Champ replied to the topic Big 10/SEC Rejects in the forum Football 2 years, 5 months ago
Athletic department revenues/expenditures are a drop in the bucket for a top-tier academic institution. Vanderbilt and Northwestern bring in billions – with a B – in research grants which the other schools in the conference get access to. Rutgers is another school that was brought in due to it’s academic excellence. B1G/SEC schools are more…[Read more]

2008 National Champ replied to the topic Colorado and Utah to Big12 in the forum Football 2 years, 5 months ago
I think you also need to factor in time zones. The NFL, with limited teams, is able to play their Sunday day games all with the same local starting time which emphasizes the best matchups nationally while still giving the local audience consistent access at reasonable times.
Because there is so much content available on a college football…[Read more]

2008 National Champ replied to the topic My two cents on our QB situation for 2023 in the forum Football 2 years, 5 months ago
I just don’t see all 4 of Johnson, Rose, Barnes and Howard staying on the roster long term. In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised to see one or two put their names in the portal after Spring ball. There just aren’t enough reps to go around and QB’s don’t wait 4 years to get their chance anymore.
The reality of the situation is that if the doctor’s…[Read more]

2008 National Champ replied to the topic The New SEC and Scheduling in the forum Football 2 years, 5 months ago
Sure, but every school wants to be in those conferences. The schools in the WAC were all hoping to use that as a stepping stone to get to a major conference. Schools in the B1G and SEC are already getting the most money so trying to jump ship for a couple extra shekels won’t be an issue.
50+ million a year covers a lot of the logistics required…[Read more]

2008 National Champ replied to the topic Ludwig in the forum Football 2 years, 5 months ago
Everyone on the offense is technically a Ludwig recruit. It’s his scheme and the position coaches report to him. But he is most involved with the QB’s.

2008 National Champ replied to the topic Ludwig in the forum Football 2 years, 5 months ago
I’m not going to pretend that I wouldn’t prefer to see an offense that took advantage of all of it’s talent but if Ludwig goes this close to spring ball, it would definitely be a blow. Everyone’s been operating under the same system since 2019 and it’s pretty much understood that it takes until the 2nd season to do a full new install. If there’s…[Read more]
