why do you feel the need to compare Utah to the parochial school? what happens in Provo has been irrelevant to Utah for over a decade

Bowers will go in the first round next year so won’t be a consideration for Lyons. If he thinks he can compete with others in this class, why wouldn’t he go there?

2008 National Champ replied to the topic Good read on Miles Battle in the forum Football 2 years, 6 months ago
It took Phillips 2 fall camps, 1 spring camp and roughly a full season’s worth of games to play at the high level you think all of these new kids can get to in half a season.
If freshman are able to come in and be better than established players they should absolutely play. But I think it’s folly to expect all of them to do so. Jaylon Glover…[Read more]

Norvell finally has FSU getting national recognition again after the Jimbo / Slick Willie debacles. That job won’t open up anytime soon barring a major catastrophe

2008 National Champ replied to the topic This NEVER gets old in the forum Football 2 years, 6 months ago
Because of work, I had to listen online but at least I could get the 700AM feed. Came back into the room in time to catch the Covey/Hobbs punt return that even fooled the announcing team. Wish I’d been able to follow the whole game because when you only have time for score updates, it’s nowhere near as satisfying.

2008 National Champ replied to the topic So what do you think about the potential of the 2023 team? in the forum Football 2 years, 6 months ago
Every position group is going to be as good or better than 2022? Georgia and Alabama will be contacting Whitt to find out his secret so they don’t have to experience fluctuations anymore.

2008 National Champ replied to the topic QB problem? in the forum Football 2 years, 6 months ago
Considering the Pac-12 as a whole, I’d say that there is greater than an 80% chance that Utah’s next starting QB will be a transfer who will most likely have started games at his previous school.
Keep your eyes on the portal in May as most likely Johnson or Rose will need to make a decision, especially if Barnes finishes spring ball as the…[Read more]

2008 National Champ replied to the topic Micah Bernard to Colorado? in the forum Football 2 years, 6 months ago
I think it comes down to being the third or fourth option in the backfield for most of the last two years. The memories of being on conference championship teams will be better after his career is over but the chance to audition for your future has to play in at some point.

2008 National Champ replied to the topic RJ Hubert not coming back in the forum Football 2 years, 6 months ago
depends on which play. The long run wasn’t on Hubert. Scalley put them in the same run blitz that got burned by Oregon in the 2019 CCG. Hubert came up to the line for the specified gap and PSU ran to the other side. If you watch the replay, you can see Hubert looking to the sideline to make sure he was supposed to move to the line.
The pass…[Read more]

Covey speed is nice. I’d be more impressed if you told me that he had Covey Heuvos. Not to mention taller and heavier but I don’t want to be greedy

2008 National Champ replied to the topic Just imagining here. How would having Smith Sr or Weddle on staff actually work? in the forum Football 2 years, 6 months ago
Depends on what they are hired to do. If they are position coaches, they can recruit like any other and would be answerable to their respective coordinator. I’d imagine Weddle and Scalley would figure it out fairly easily since they have a past relationship. Smith and Ludwig might be a different story but I can’t imagine Whitt signing off on…[Read more]

2008 National Champ replied to the topic Possible Unpopular Opinion on Tavion Thomas in the forum Football 2 years, 6 months ago
Pledger had the 96 yard TD right before half. Thomas broke one earlier in the game for 58. Man that Stanford rush D was bad in 2021.

2008 National Champ replied to the topic Possible Unpopular Opinion on Tavion Thomas in the forum Football 2 years, 6 months ago
I’m conflicted on deuce-deuce. Not because he didn’t obviously have talent, but because all we got to see was a couple of games in a year where you really can’t draw any conclusions. I always expect Utah to have good running backs, even if I don’t know they are yet. But I’ve never had the expectation that every handoff could potentially be a…[Read more]

2008 National Champ replied to the topic Possible Unpopular Opinion on Tavion Thomas in the forum Football 2 years, 6 months ago
My lasting memory of Thomas won’t be the big run against Stanford in ’21 or his blow the whistle TD signal. It will be the 6 or 7 times he got the ball inside the 5 against Florida and couldn’t convert. Sure he could run straight ahead when the hole was there but did he ever really make something out of nothing?
That Florida game was so bad…[Read more]

I actually had a longer post that mentioned knee and hip replacements but thought it would cloud the issue since those are structural. Everyone I’ve met who has gotten a replacement says that they make you stand as soon as you come out of the anasthesia (sic?) to prove that you are structurally sound.
I had a complete tear of the ligaments in my…[Read more]

Hercules Mata’afa made that defense work. It’s telling that Grinch has run the same scheme at Ohio State, Oklahoma and SC without anywhere near the success.

2008 National Champ replied to the topic Cam missed radio show today in the forum Football 2 years, 6 months ago
depends on what was actually worked on. I think the general rule is you immobilize bone repairs but for Ligament/Tendon/Muscle, you want to be active without overdoing it. And the sooner the better
