My only preference would be as late as possible. This team needs as much time as possible to get whoever is going to play healthy.

2008 National Champ replied to the topic Has Anybody Heard this Rumor About Texas A&M Being Interested in Whitt? in the forum Football 1 year, 8 months ago
Let Arizona keep Fisch. I’m starting to like the idea of beating a really good Arizona team to get to the first Big-12 championship game. I’m not expecting Colorado or Arizona State to be world beaters in 2024 so having another former PAC team be in the mix will help perception.
The next few years will be all about setting Utah up for the next…[Read more]

What I’m hearing is that they’ve found a way to win those 8 straight games. If you go back through their 19 game winning streak, 13 of those games are by 10 points or less.
Seems like a weird cutoff point to say they are overrated though. UW played a tougher conference schedule than Oregon and beat Oregon/Oregon State 4 times in that streak.

A&M may be the worst job to come on the market this year. Whoever takes it will need to clean out the locker room if the rumors of player problems are true. There won’t be a honeymoon period since the money people will expect you to win immediately. But winning won’t be enough, you’ll have to win impressively. As well as somehow overcoming the…[Read more]

2008 National Champ replied to the topic Ending up 8-4 with all of our injuries ain't that bad. in the forum Football 1 year, 8 months ago
Part of the frustrating thing for me is that I don’t believe it needs to be a binary choice. The programs that I want Utah to be compared with have both a good defense and a good offense. When your offense is as one-dimensional as Utah’s, it only takes an injury at a key position or running into a defense good enough to shut that dimension…[Read more]

It’s not a coaching miss when you have three defenders who could have covered the back and he runs past all of them. Reid had him out of the backfield and then stopped. Bishop had deep middle and never moved to provide help. And whoever had deep third to that side neither moved up to attack the screen action or back to pick up a potential deep…[Read more]

Looking forward to seeing if Simmons can improve on his one catch for two yards every 8 games played average.

This is the first time anyone has been undefeated in conference play either.

If true, that’s another Utah 4 star that crapped the bed. What happened to the “great development” everyone bangs on about?

TCU finished 2nd last year and made the playoff. They are staying.
Kansas State won the Big-12 last year. They are staying.
Texas has made one NY6 game in the last 13 years with 5 losing seasons in that time. They are leaving.
Oklahoma is the one elite program in the Big-12. They are leaving.NY6 games by the teams staying over the last 10…[Read more]

There was also familiarity with the teams in the PAC before Utah & Colorado joined. Whether bowl games or regular season contests, Utah had played pretty much everyone and we (yes, I’m including myself in we) as a fanbase looked forward to matching up with those teams.
I don’t know, maybe if Texas and Oklahoma were staying in the Big-12 everyone…[Read more]

Finally fired the guy.
I’m not sure how he kept his job after the investigation this summer or why it took this long to pull the trigger. You can’t treat female athletes the way he’s been reported to.

I only said the comparison wasn’t fair because you were removing Texas and Oklahoma, while not removing anyone from the PAC. Remove Michigan and Ohio State from the B1G, Alabama and Georgia from the SEC.,, everyone is always going to pale in comparison when you take away the top performers.
I think Utah will do well next year but the league…[Read more]

wouldn’t work. how can you legislate what a kid can make off his own NIL? That genie is never going back in the bottle.
The only way I could see even slowing it down would be to go backwards on the transfer rules which I wouldn’t support unless they put the coaches under the same rules. If a coach can actively seek employment elsewhere while…[Read more]

So I think its fair to say the Big-12 without Texas and Oklahoma are pretty weak in football compared to 2023 Pac-12.
That’s not really a fair comparison. Texas and Oklahoma are two of the top 3 programs in the Big-12 this year. From the opposite side, one could say remove Oregon and Washington from the Pac and 2023 looks pretty…[Read more]
