He’s raising tons of money, which is probably going to be the difference between survival of the athletic department and its demise.

Keep in mind, there are two things working against Scalley here:

1. He used the word at work, in the context of work, to refer to a “coworker” (a recruit).
2. He works for a university. Like it or not, universities are hypersensitive to racial issues.

The NCAA doesn’t have one AFAIK, but the U athletic department sure does…

On a slightly related note, I would kill to have a basketball version of OnlyU. We have way more BS in basketball than football, and it would be so nice to have someone to cut through that BS. I’m 99% certain that there’s more going on than meets the eye with almost everything happening within the basketball program.

I’m hearing the wrong question being asked. The question is not “is Scalley racist” or “has he changed/learned/grown”? The question is, can he continue to do his job effectively?
