Charlie replied to the topic Impact freshmen 2023? in the forum Football 2 years, 5 months ago
I feel impact can come without being a starter. I have always felt Whitt understands playing 2s when they become very close to the starters. He has always done this with the DL, throughout the D and RBs. Understanding it is a long season and there is considerable wear and tear it makes sense to substitute when possible. Better depth provides…[Read more]

I think we are quite set on S and LB. Ritchie and Bishop match any safeties we have ever had and Vaki looks to become special as well. Three awesome players for 2 spots. Barton, Reid and Damuni may also give us 3 starters for 2 positions. We missed Fillinger the last part of the season, I think his return with O’toole, Ellis and Fano…[Read more]

Charlie replied to the topic Walker Lyons commits in the forum Football 2 years, 5 months ago
Clearly we would have loved to have him commit to Utah. However losing him to USC is much like losing someone to TCU in 2011, we lost him but they are no longer a rival. He will have zero impact on their last year in the Pac. With the mission this is like a commitment from a sophomore or junior in high school, there is still a long time to go.…[Read more]

Charlie replied to the topic That’s Pro Bowl QB Tyler Huntley to you! in the forum Football 2 years, 5 months ago
The Pro Bowl is an odd outdated thing and more odd than all star games in the NBA MLB. Because of the level of physical play I think football players do not like meaningless games more than other athletes. The game is outdated, we need to find a way to recognize the best players without a game. We don’t need All Americans in college to have a…[Read more]

In the 70s I remember as students standing in line for half a day to get a good seat at the Special Events Center. In the 80s and 90s there was a waiting list for a handful of lower bowl seats that came available each year and league games sold out early in the day. That has completely changed. Only UofA in the Pac has avoided this change.…[Read more]

Charlie replied to the topic My prediction for the Utes last ten games in the forum Basketball (Men) 2 years, 5 months ago
That would be good. There are 4 games we should win and we get a couple of 50/50 games. I am hoping we have another quite unexpected win coming. Than at least 1 win in the tournament.

Charlie replied to the topic The Bills got what they deserved in the forum NFL 2 years, 5 months ago
How can anyone not pull for the Bills endless they have ties to a specific team. The fan base is unlike any other in the NFL. For me the Bills are more deserving than the others and then there are the football reasons. Success in Buffalo is even more sweet than my childhood favorite Rams. Anxious to see how they prepare for next year.

Charlie replied to the topic The Bills got what they deserved in the forum NFL 2 years, 5 months ago
We would like to see them use Moss but the problems were on defense. The losses in the secondary, as we know, are hard to overcome when you get to the end of the depth chart. Hyde was the biggest loss. Next, they had one very good pass rusher and the loss of Miller was him. This gave Joe the time he needed to let receivers come open. All…[Read more]

Still too early to know Beyond what we do in the scheduled games is the conference tournament and what happens to the other bubble teams and other conference tournaments. What we do know is every win is very helpful and the losses need to be limited. Also, we need to win a game or two in the tournament or lose only to Az or UCLA. For now I…[Read more]

Charlie replied to the topic So what do you think about the potential of the 2023 team? in the forum Football 2 years, 5 months ago
I am assuming Whitt is taking his time to get the right guy to coach WRs. Can’t imagine this is not ready to do for spring practice.
Fillinger back on the edge and another year will make a difference from what we had at the end of the year.
Tanute3 will be happy with the kicking game, we should be able to relax on kickoffs since so few of his…[Read more] -
Charlie replied to the topic RJ Hubert not coming back in the forum Football 2 years, 6 months ago
It appears that Penn State was doing a very good job snapping the ball right as Utah was getting the defensive calls sent in or just as they began to make the adjustment for the call. That can have the effect of hanging players out creating missed assignments. The remedy can be getting into a defensive call a bit earlier and getting everyone on…[Read more]

We fell short, however, imagine any other Pac team losing their QB and trying to win the Rose Bowl. Imagine PSU losing their QB. Most often it is a disaster to lose a key player in a big game. Rose Bowl aside, Utah has been very good the past 2 years.

Charlie replied to the topic U of O vs. Utah… in the forum Basketball (Men) 2 years, 6 months ago
Utah is still in a good spot. We just need to win home games with only a few exceptions and win some road games. Az. is a top 10 team and just lost to a team below Oregon in Tucson. Oregon has been hot or cold, we caught them on a hot night. It is crazy how they have our number. I love what Smith does with what he has, as he gets more Utah…[Read more]
