Aren’t Bentley 2.0, and 3.0. My gut says if they were good enough to be a top 3-4 pac12 qb, they wouldn’t have felt the need to jump ship.
I think they will be good for the team… but actually good quarterbacks? I’ll believe it when I see it for several games against non terrible competition. Until then, I’m going to assume the following:
1. Ty…[Read more] -

Pretty sure he quit football though. Different situation.

Bentley is a proven veteran as well… and is terrible, which isn’t what we were told he would be.
I’m glad we have brewer. Like before, I just refuse to believe he’ll be any different than the other transfers we’ve had. -

When did I say we shouldn’t do anything? I explicitly said jqj is not a bad thing. I’m just saying, history suggests he’ll be a stop gap solution if we are lucky.
Getting him had to happen, I’m just not convinced that the 4th string guy at an above average program will be anything much more than the same for this above average program…[Read more]

Did you watch the game? Lisk had very little time to throw, on obvious running down we had three of their guys in the backfield before our rb ever had the ball.
There were numerous times where our offensive line was completely flummoxed by a blitz. Their guys in the backfield, and at least one offensive linemen not blocking anyone.

The 4th qb, on a team that isn’t much better than us.
If he was anything close to a top half of the conference qb (which is what we need), he wouldn’t be transferring.
We’ve had three big time transfer qbs since joining the pac12. All of them were talked up to no end. Troy Williams was the #1 dual threat guy no? He wasn’t the 4th guy on the dep…[Read more]

I mean, the rest of our transfer qbs have been pretty bad so… yay?
Obviously we needed someone to transfer in so this isn’t a bad thing, but getting the leftovers of teams that have been performing at our level or worse isn’t exactly a dream come true to this fan.
Won’t be surprised if he does well. Won’t be shocked if he sucks monkey nuts li…[Read more]

If we don’t have the best pass blocking we’ve had in the pac12 next year by the end of the first conference game Harding needs to be sacked.
our offensive line occasionally opens huge holes for Jordan, the talent is there. The problem is that the offensive line can’t block on obvious passing or running downs. You have a future all American rb,…[Read more] -

I’m genuinely disappointed with Carlson. He HAS the frame and potential to be an excellent big. He still has time. As pissed as I am about his lack of physical development, I’m even more upset about his regression in attitude. He used to be an aggressive defender and rebounder. Such a shame.
Kellier, I disagree about him a bit. He has the pot…[Read more]

I don’t know WTF happened to Carlson. He was a scrappy player last year. He wasn’t afraid to bang in the post, and occasionally dunk over defenders. He was essentially useless against a TERRIBLE Idaho Vandals squad that he should have been able to dominate. I don’t think I’ve ever been so disappointed in a Ute basketballer’s development.

and find the highlights of this game. Martinez.
First up: Fire Larry
ok…
Martinez… Holy f’n A… That guy is the most athletic player we’ve ever had. Look up the highlights for those of you that missed it. Maybe the most athletic oop, followed up not long later with the most athletic block I’ve ever seen from a Ute guard. Absolutely…[Read more] -

Except for rising of course.

He’s making throws under pressure that Bentley has missed by a mile… and the guys Bentley has missed were wide open. Costelli is throwing to guys with a defender right on them, putting the ball right where it has to be.

Which is exactly what I’m talking about. Upside is nice, but that guy is probably only going to make an impact as a senior, and that’s par for the course with Harding recruiting.

Holladay seems to do a good job coaching guys up, but I’ve not been impressed with his recruiting.
I also wonder why we still feel the need to recruit projects on the offensive line.
Utah should largely move on from the diamonds in the rough recruiting philosophy IMO.

You would think backers would give their left nut to play in Kyle’s system. Our DL is designed to make life easy for linebackers.

Underperforming indeed. It’s baffling to me that we don’t have any bigs on this team with any strength at all. Carlson has been a huge disappointment. If he doesn’t put on at least 15 pounds this next offseason we need to find someone to replace him in the starting rotation

It puts us in a bit of a tough spot, but it’s a sign that things are going very well for our running game. Ty Jordan is an absolute monster in the making. This is what happens when the young guy turns out to be an absolute stud.
I honestly don’t know what the coaches saw in Brumfield. He is the slowest of our backs, and he does not run with any…[Read more] - Load More
