Stevie got himself into the league with that move. He was only going to be a backup at Utah so it was a great move.
Utah won’t be playing SC next year so why would it matter to Utah fan if Rising went there and blew up? If anything, it would be an indictment of the Utah offensive scheme if he was able to display currently unseen skills. I…[Read more]

#1 – Rising won’t transfer to anyone that is playing Utah next year. So it will have no effect on Utah fan’s memories of his time on the hill.

Rising has already made more money in college than he ever will in the pros. UDFA’s don’t sign multi-million $ contracts

2008 National Champ replied to the topic Chip Kelley out in the forum Football 1 year, 8 months ago
We won’t know if whoever they get to replace him will be better for a couple of years For UCLA, I assume the calculus comes down do whether 2-3 more seasons of roughly the same and then making a change is cheaper than making the change now. Unless the expectation is that they will be conference contenders immediately in the B1G, I would say that…[Read more]

Fisch took a dumpster fire and has it in contention for a conference championship in his 3rd year. That’s excellent for a “to the studs” rebuild. There’s no guarantee he could duplicate that anywhere else but he has done extremely well for his first HC experience, everything considered.

2008 National Champ replied to the topic Surprise 4* QB committment in the forum Football 1 year, 8 months ago
His ball tends to be high, especially when on the move. I’d estimate roughly 60% of his highlights involved the receiver leaving his feet to make the catch. That is easily fixable.
The thing I really like was that he was willing to “throw his guys open”, often releasing the ball before the receiver was even with the defender. Rising had that…[Read more]

without trying to restart the whole “should he/shouldn’t he have tried to get a portal QB before the 2023 season”.,, I do need to ask why it would be important to get a portal QB before the 2024 season? Isn’t the QB room currently the same as it was in February but with the addition of Wilson?
You would have Rising, Barnes and Johnson with some…[Read more]

He’s been getting top 10 money and put up a .500 record in 6 years. That last 3 have been better than the first 2 but this could very well be his 4th losing conference record in those 6 years. If they fire him, it’s not like they would need to make up reasons to let him go.
His buyout is also very affordable. I don’t know when his contract is…[Read more]

2008 National Champ replied to the topic Am I the only one that would like to see what Kyle could do at the helm in the forum Football 1 year, 8 months ago
I understand his affinity to the family friend.
At the same time, I root for the name on the front of the jersey. There have been 3 head coaches, somewhere close to a hundred OC’s and who know how many thousand players since Utah became my only rooting interest. Whitt leaving won’t change my loyalties.

He’s had plenty of opportunities to go to a bigger program. When Carroll moved back to the NFL, Whitt was reported to be at the top of SC’s hiring list. We don’t hear the rumors anymore because he is so entrenched at Utah, but if he wanted, Whitt could have his choice of jobs anywhere in the country.

Agree and that is why I’ve never been on the fire Whitt bandwagon. Not only has he earned the right to throw up 8-4 seasons in perpetuity, but it is more likely than not that within 3 seasons after he leaves, Utah will be struggling and looking for it’s next next head coach.
When a coach has been in place as long as Whitt has, it’s pretty rare…[Read more]

Changing coaches, changes to roster limits and changing conferences all combined to take them down.
But the biggest issue is that Nebraska was caught up in the “it will always be great because it always has been” mindset. It’s almost like how wealthy families lose most, if not all of it, in 2 generations. Or the “born on third base and…[Read more]

2008 National Champ replied to the topic Utah down to #22 in CFP in the forum Football 1 year, 8 months ago
Beating Arizona won’t move Utah up much. Utah’s ceiling is right around #15 this year and will need to win out, including the bowl game, to get there. Right now Utah is 0-3 against ranked teams and can’t win their conference, but could be the NY6 auto-bid from the PAC were both Washington and Oregon to make the playoff. So the committee has to…[Read more]

The curse of Bo Pelini. Nebraska fans and their AD decided that winning at least 9 games each of the 7 years he was head coach wasn’t good enough. They are now on their 3rd head coach since 2015 and have one winning season in that time with a chance at their 2nd this year.
From 1969 through 2001 Nebraska only lost more than 3 games once…[Read more]

DeLaura played for Rolovich. Changed his commitment after Rolo got the WSU job and put himself in the portal after Rolo got fired. Leach was actually interested in Barnes that year before taking the Mississippi State job if you believe the reporting.
