I didn’t see the concern for rain. Weatherbug has been calling for no rain for a while.

Charlie replied to the topic Ute Hoops was my first love in the forum Basketball (Men) 5 years, 9 months ago
The Einar Nielsen Fieldhouse was the utes home before 1969, my memories there were mostly the HS basketball state championships. Crazy raised stage court with chainlink fencing behind the baskets where anyone could stand.
Lived out of town and wished I had ute memories there. In the 70s the SEC was often full, students waited in line for hours…[Read more] -
Charlie replied to the topic Why not “open” the playbook & iron out the kinks before facing formidable teams? in the forum Football 5 years, 9 months ago
The USC game was not awful for me. We had a handful of plays go wrong to turn the game. We played a very different QB we did not game plan for. Blackmon took a bad angle on a play that gave up a TD, likely doesn’t occur at all with the QB style we prepared for. Moss in our game plan would make a great difference. The two bad breaks inside the…[Read more]

Brighton High School a couple years ago comes to mind when thinking what can go wrong when helicopter parents get involved with football.

Charlie replied to the topic Whitt speaks out on Moss and Covey in the forum Football 5 years, 9 months ago
I like using all the RBs with Moss as the #1. It takes wear and tear off of him. Also, you never know what style a defense will struggle with until you try it. It adds complexity to defensive plans.

Charlie replied to the topic is there anything to make from Utah not kneeling on that last possession? in the forum Football 5 years, 9 months ago
I don’t recall, was the down the same and the clock the same, and timeouts? I was thinking it was close but I think we could have made it work.

Charlie replied to the topic Jason Shelley in the forum Football 5 years, 9 months ago
You hit on the reason. With Shelley in for a couple of plays forces other teams to account for him. He is different than Huntley so now there is that to think about. If they neglect that prep they risk Shelley having success and Utah going that way until he is stopped. It takes time pre snap to notice.
Other benefits, if Huntley goes out,…[Read more]

Charlie replied to the topic Is UW a must win to win the South? If not, will USC drop 2 more? What about ASU? in the forum Football 5 years, 9 months ago
I think we can get one of the two, Orgon or Washington. We need to get the others, have a good chance but have an uphill climb. USC and ASU have their challenges as well. There is not a dominate team in the south, it will be taken by the one that get a big win or two. WSU can do us a favor and get ASU in two weeks before they come to SLC.

Charlie replied to the topic Seeing the College Gameday clips in Nebraska makes me sick in the forum Football 5 years, 9 months ago
If you spend time with a football team thru practice and all, you can realize a well prepared very disciplined and well coached team can face a talented team, see things unexpected, get out quicked while thinking, fail to fully mesh new players back into the lineup, have bad breaks, or in the moment get beat. A poor team can look good one day…[Read more]

Charlie replied to the topic Night before the Wazzu game feelings? in the forum Football 5 years, 9 months ago
You have to work at it because watching football is awesome. Even if you are emotionally involved. I was once where you are but no more. It may be too late for you to play or know a player but if you did you would know how difficult it is to not make mistakes. Try coaching football, even kids, and you discover even with everything done as…[Read more]

Charlie replied to the topic I hate being that kind of guy but I will anyways in the forum Football 5 years, 9 months ago
I would be happy if they would quit allowing the OL to hold an arm around the neck of the DL from behind. Why is that so difficult to see? Falling on top of someone away from the play and laying on them for 5 seconds is also easy to see. If you go back and look at the replays on the two calls on our TEs and compare it to the often close lines…[Read more]

Charlie replied to the topic Why should any fan watch when it no longer matters in the forum Football 5 years, 10 months ago
If you don’t understand you can loose a football game even with a very good team, well lay on the floor and kick your feet. I suppose every team that has a lose now should just give up because there is no reason to believe anything is ever determined after mid September.
For others, enjoy a season of football, hope for the best and live thru the…[Read more]

Charlie replied to the topic Question: Utah defense scheming v. USC in the forum Football 5 years, 10 months ago
Doesn’t matter much what the defense is, most important is to keep USC guessing. However, the Y had success simply keeping the secondary crowded. Have to expect USC has considered problems from last week. If they go to quick short passing, utes give a 4 man rush with crowded short zones. But USC is arrogant and will try to go long on the outside.

Charlie replied to the topic Game balls for Friday’s victory. in the forum Football 5 years, 10 months ago
Offense, Moss like we have seen before vs USC, but there will be other positive surprises.
Defense, JJ will need to lead the way to stopping WRs along the sideline because the jittery QB will be afraid of the middle of the field.
ST, Covey is not quite ready unless the brace is off his knee. Punter will be fine but not used much. So it has to…[Read more]

Charlie replied to the topic A thought on Huntley… in the forum Football 5 years, 10 months ago
Some of the media can’t understand, some can. The reason for that is many in the local media are Y fans. That means they can’t process doing just what is needed to win, they would be doing everything they can, every moment, trying to chase every possible statistic. They even believe Utah ran out of gas on the last drive at the Y and took a…[Read more]

Charlie replied to the topic Slow week in the forum Football 5 years, 10 months ago
I agree with Saban, he supports 10 conference games for P5 schools and P5s playing P5s. I think after the conference games, 1 G5 game should be allowed leaving 1 or 2 out-of-conference P5 opponents that can be played. If that was done, the inventory of P5 college football games would be greatly improved. The occurrence of undefeated teams would…[Read more]

I was responsible for a group that received and returned high costs, time sensitive orders over the internet without a backup methodology for an energy company.
