chinngiskhaan replied to the topic When Coach Whit retires in the forum Football 2 years, 6 months ago
IKR? I mean, pretty much all of the best college football coaches were hired as first time HCs by their programs (with the exception being Saban). Smart, Day, Riley, Swinney, Whitt…
TSPP was just incredibly dumb for hiring someone with ZERO college coaching experience to be their OC. Anyone with two brain cells knew that ish wasn’t going to…[Read more]

Scalley isn’t going to be the next HC because he’s a former Ute player. He’s going to be the next HC because he is just that good.
Also, your assertion that top 15 programs don’t hire first time HCs is completely false. Ryan Day at Ohio State is one example. Dabo Swinney at Clemson is another example (I suppose you might say they weren’t a top 15…[Read more]

I would prefer to have someone like Shah be the DC, someone who has had years of experience coaching a position group at least. Weddle obviously has zero experience coaching college football, so that wouldn’t be a great idea. Shah hasn’t done the best job with the ST, but they are improving each year under him. So that is at least trending in a…[Read more]

chinngiskhaan replied to the topic Covey and BJ to Super Bowl in the forum NFL 2 years, 6 months ago
Covey is a winner. He makes every team he joins better. Johnson is also a winner, but Covey’s leadership ability is absolutely off the charts. I knew a couple kids on Timpview High Schools team with Covey and they said the feeling in the locker room was completely different when he was there. That ability to affect locker rooms has stayed with…[Read more]

If we didn’t win another game all season, this year would still be a success in my book. We’ve already doubled our Pac12 win total from last year. That is impressive growth, and you can SEE it on the court. The players look physically different.

chinngiskhaan replied to the topic Utes have 16 recruits ranked in the top 1000 in the forum Football 2 years, 6 months ago
The top 1000? Somehow that doesn’t sound all that impressive. When you consider that most schools are bringing in around 20 guys a class, I would be more surprised if one of our scholarship recruits ISN’T a top 1000 player.

He coached for Wisconsin so we know he can teach receivers to block.

That’s what you get for having ZERO running game.
Allen needs to learn that he can’t win important games by himself.

Kyle has been a great representative of the UofU. He’s never been afraid to stand up for what he believes in.

To be fair we don’t know that he did give all he had. Though I agree with your general point that he really wasn’t that bad. He wasn’t reliable on long-ish field goals, and wasn’t consistent with his kick-offs, but he was a serviceable kicker.

chinngiskhaan replied to the topic So what do you think about the potential of the 2023 team? in the forum Football 2 years, 6 months ago
You aren’t arguing the same thing I argued. Either you don’t get it (or much of anything else) or you are being obtuse. I didn’t take issue with his rating of the QB situation going forward, and he didn’t attempt to rate the RB group.
Furthermore, neither of those two groups lost their best player this offseason (TT was effectively lost before…[Read more]

and if Kuithe gets hurt again (pretty likely given the number of touches he likely gets next year)? There is no way you can possibly look at the TE group as a whole and suggest that next year’s group is even close to even with this last year’s group.
The TE position group is absolutely worse off without Kincaid.
The fact that anyone cares to try…[Read more]

Yeah… I’m not the one that forgot Kuithe was on the team last year. That was everyone above my initial post. He was already on the team, and played, having him next year doesn’t count as replacing Kincaid when he was already here in the first place.
I know Kuithe was Risings favorite target early on, that doesn’t make him a better player, and…[Read more]

We aren’t replacing Kincaid with kuithe. That is just not true. We already had kuithe and Kincaid (and Yassmin) on the same team for hells sake. How is subtracting the best of those three (plus the best blocker who’s name I’m forgetting) adding up to a net even??? Seriously, is that koolaid you are drinking or liquid crack?
As to your point about…[Read more]

chinngiskhaan replied to the topic RJ Hubert not coming back in the forum Football 2 years, 7 months ago
That may be true, but why did they go exclusively at RJ in those plays? Because he was the weak link and they knew it.
To be fair, there was also a new guy playing corner there since CPIII was out, making mistakes more likely and not completely his fault

chinngiskhaan started the topic Just imagining here. How would having Smith Sr or Weddle on staff actually work? in the forum Football 2 years, 7 months ago
I think it would be great for recruiting, and at least one of them would be a good coach. I just wonder how it would affect other coaches. For example: how would Scalley react to being the boss of the GOAT Utes defender? Would Weddle and Smith Sr be teachable? Would their superiors have the balls to stick to their guns when questioned by all time…[Read more]
