I’m perfectly happy giving the coach 1 more year. The more I watch, the more I see that he is making adjustments in game, and he is devising offensive game plans that would work for us if we hit open shots and didn’t abandon the plan so early and so often.
The thing that irritates me still is that we have always had turnover issues with Krystko.…[Read more]

Yeah, if we get back in the 1-4 range next year, I’ll be happy with where the program is going. While I wouldn’t be disgusted with an average rank of 4th in the conference, I think we certainly can do better, as the team has proven.
I don’t see us ever usurping Oregen as the best team in the conference, not for more than 1 season at a time…[Read more]

chinngiskhaan replied to the topic Realistic Average? in the forum Basketball (Men) 5 years, 4 months ago
Based on previous years, I would say a reasonable average would be somewhere around 4th place in the Pac12. If that is our average finish, I’m not calling for the coach to be fired. There will be some years where we finish higher, and some where we finish lower. We would be at least in the conversation for the NCAA tourney every year.
Most years…[Read more]

If this team didn’t have so much potential (this team including it’s incoming members), I wouldn’t be tempted to watch these games. The current iteration of the team is painful to watch most of the time (especially on the road). With the amount of wide open shots we miss (usually very badly), you’d think we were watching a church ball game…[Read more]

Yeah, I just don’t get it. We can’t have shooters afraid to shoot. His lack of energy is toxic. He is a bad defender, a terrible athlete… he’s passed up more open shots than any shooter should ever pass up. We need our shooters to shoot. We don’t have enough of them for any of them to disappear.

For the second game in a row Utah has actually attempted to get the ball into the paint regularly. They gave up on it early in the previous game but this week they went back to it again and again.
plummer is the reason we won that game. He should be starting Along with Jones, Gach, Jantunen and Carlson.

247 has Franklin listed as a 5*. I would literally lose my sh*t if we got him.

What DOES piss me off re: our basketball coach is that the offensive philosophy is and always has been flaming hot garbage.
I don’t know if any of you remember what things were like when he took over and our team was full of division II players? I remember. His entire strategy was to have the players pass it around the perimeter and waste as much…[Read more] -
chinngiskhaan replied to the topic Utes wilting on the road again… in the forum Basketball (Men) 5 years, 5 months ago
ugh, it’s really frustrating to watch. Just pass the ball around the perimeter repeatedly until the shot clock runs out, then the guy that shouldn’t be shooting jacks up a contested shot. Same anemic offense for years and nothing has been done to change it. The only time it was ever any different was when we had two all americans on our team.

Even if a bunch of bench players transfer again, we are going to be better next year.

if true then I’m happy for him. If he goes somewhere a bit more low key he will tear it up.

When your best offensive player is a guard that makes Ben Simmons look like a good shooter, you have a spacing problem.

chinngiskhaan replied to the topic Is anyone else concerned that we are running Rylan Jones into the ground? in the forum Basketball (Men) 5 years, 5 months ago
To be clear, if he was healthy, and an upper classman I would be perfectly happy with it. I’m sure he’s not complaining, but it was a little crazy seeing him play 44 minutes last night.

He’s an undersized, freshman with a high school player’s body. The last 3 games he has gone 44, 38, and 40 minutes. that’s an average of just under 41 minutes a game. Over the last 5 games he sits an average of about 40 seconds per game.

They must have Utah ties. Ignore any other aspect of being a football coach. Recruiting impact is the only thing that matters (No former coaches or retired guys)

A few things.
Coach Krystkowiak: He likely needs to go, but not for the reasons you think. The offensive scheme is a complete joke. Pass the ball around the perimeter, and if that fails, resort to dribble handoffs until there are 10 seconds left on the clock… Then whoever has the ball can try to actually do something productive. This is our…[Read more] -

I’m not defending the coach. My issue is that you weren’t on here bitching about it when we were playing good. I’d be happy with a new coach, but losing these games was inevitable. If you want to kick against the pricks go right ahead. This team has potential, but they are also very young and have a few major holes.
