2008 National Champ replied to the topic Path to the Pac-12 Championship in the forum Football 1 year, 6 months ago
The math is pretty simple at this point. Unless 2007 level chaos ensues over the next 5 weekends, no 2 loss team is making the playoff. And that level of chaos hasn’t happened yet so why count on it?
To make the playoff, Utah needs to win out. There are 17 P5’s who have one loss or less and most have relatively easy schedules. A one-loss Utah…[Read more]

Just shows to go you that any kid can have the talent necessary to succeed and it isn’t limited to large HS programs. Something the recruiting services continually overlook

2008 National Champ replied to the topic Remember when Cristobal punted to Covey to end a half? in the forum Football 1 year, 6 months ago
not to mention, the PR made Cristobal so scurred, he had his QB throw a pick in the CCG so he didn’t have to kick it to Covey again in the same situation

If it’s ElAttrache, he’s close to coming back but it would probably be best to shut him down for the year

2008 National Champ replied to the topic Utah Radio broadcast of the Utah-USC Ending in the forum Football 1 year, 6 months ago
Everytime I watch that punt return, my eyes are drawn to Bishop. He comes down the right side of the screen and gets passed by Branch, ending up about 5 yards behind. Branch is supposed to be pretty darned fast and Bishop not only runs him down but gets in front.

2008 National Champ replied to the topic Who Has a Better Offense, USC or Oregon? in the forum Football 1 year, 6 months ago
SC’s problem is Williams. Call it the Michael Jordan effect. Until he learned to trust Pippen and the rest of his supporting cast, he was just the best player in the league. Once he went all in on getting everyone to play to their strengths, he became the GOAT.
Riley has a really good offensive scheme that Williams routinely ignores trying to…[Read more]

So much for just needing to clear a couple of things up so the charges can be dismissed.

2008 National Champ replied to the topic Will Vaki move to the offense full-time? in the forum Football 1 year, 6 months ago
Agree, but I’m not sure the staff wants to be switching QB’s around anymore. I haven’t heard if Johnson has any lasting issues from the Oregon State game so I’m going to assume that he is good to go. But as long as Barnes is playing well, adding Johnson to the mix could gum up the works. Utah is averaging ~ 160 more yards and 15 points in the…[Read more]

Thanks for asking. I’d also like to know what a Men’s Wellness Check is but I’m afraid to ask. Good thing no one ever reads my posts.,, 🙂

2008 National Champ replied to the topic I don't the substitution rule, but I like the way Whitt uses it in the forum Football 1 year, 6 months ago
They had to add the rule when teams like Oregon were running HUNH. They would race their subs on straight into the formation and snap the ball while the D was still trying to get aligned. Effectively they were forcing the defense to play whole drives with the same personnel while getting to change theirs at will. The rule helps mitigate that.

2008 National Champ replied to the topic Will Vaki move to the offense full-time? in the forum Football 1 year, 6 months ago
The Jackson/Vaki backfield is the same thing they were trying to set up with Barnes/Johnson in the Baylor game when they were both in the game at the same time. It’s been tried before with mixed success. I think Florida did it a few times with Tebow and Leak. And WSU has been running some plays with their running QB (Mateer) and Ward.
I had to…[Read more]

2008 National Champ replied to the topic Whitt's weekly presser in the forum Football 1 year, 6 months ago
As are Oregon and Washington. There are more than a few teams that would be willing to give him a shot if he decides to go elsewhere.
I was checking out an Oregon fan board after the news came out and the general consensus was that they wanted Uncle Phil to back up the NIL truck for Rising.

2008 National Champ replied to the topic Why isn't the million dollar recruit, Manning playing? in the forum Football 1 year, 6 months ago
No way of knowing how it will turn out but the Manning situation reminds me of Todd Marinovich. Kid exposed from birth to the best developmental methods of the time and who was getting specialized training from an early age. The Manning’s seem to have themselves a plan so hopefully it doesn’t turn into another cautionary tale.

2008 National Champ replied to the topic Why isn't the million dollar recruit, Manning playing? in the forum Football 1 year, 6 months ago
Part of the reason he ended up at Texas was because Sark agreed to let him sit this year. At least, that was what I got reading between the lines last fall.
If he’d gone to Georgia or Alabama, he would have been expected to compete for the job right away since they were both losing their starters. Manning had his choice of schools and his…[Read more]

2008 National Champ replied to the topic So delicious….listen and laugh in the forum Football 1 year, 6 months ago
Whitt explained it in the post-game presser. They changed the rule so that you can’t ice the kicker by calling multiple timeouts. Since Utah had called timeout before sending the kick team on, SC calling another timeout with out a play running was this issue.

2008 National Champ replied to the topic Centering the ball for the winning field goal? in the forum Football 1 year, 6 months ago
Becker is coming off an injury and missed one against CAL to the right. If he’s centered, he doesn’t need to try to bend it in.
On replay, it looks like SC came close to blocking the kick. I’d love to see a side angle to see if it was an optical illusion.

That’s quite the pretzel logic. Head football coach and his medical staff apparently had no idea of the nature of star QB’s injury until it was released on a radio interview 9 months later. I guess it’s a good thing the info “slipped” out or the star QB and his doctor could have continued lying to Head football coach and his medical staff in…[Read more]
