Utah started the topic Utah's Annual Week by Week Predictions in the forum Football 7 years, 11 months ago
I like these, hopefully others do too. I usually pick very well with Utah, Oregon State, Oregon, Stanford, WSU, ASU, USC, UCLA, Cal; very terribly with Washington, Colorado, Arizona. So, here goes.
Week 0/1 – I will combine the first two weeks because I can.
Oregon State vs Colorado State: This will be the battle of the running game. I’m torn…[Read more]

ladyinred replied to the topic Huntley in the forum Football 7 years, 11 months ago
I have been thinking something similar. I feel like it will be either Taylor or Scalley taking the reigns within the next 3-4 years depending on how things go. I think Whit retires at Utah and keeps the consultant gig. I am not on board with this idea of losing games for the sake of experience. Play the guy that wins games. A 5-7 season would be a…[Read more]

ladyinred replied to the topic How does BYU get recruits(other than Mormons) when they have the Honor Code? in the forum They So Poo Poo 7 years, 11 months ago
Yeah, I’ve always wondered this myself. Maybe because they have no better offers? Or because there is a wink wink nod kind of discussion with the coaching staff about helping them stay off the radar of the HC office?
But what troubles me the most about BYU in general is that it seems like East Berlin under the Stasi. It seems like people must be…[Read more]

I was thinking this same thing. The images are a catastrophe, and the color combinations assault my eyeballs. Or maybe I was just looking at the sun too much today.

Kalani looks tired. Must be exhausting trying to keep his kids clear of the HC office, while maintaining appearances to their provincial mindset fanbase. He is gone as soon as a P5 program comes calling.

Thats one hell of a recruiting coup. Florida Gatorade player of the year in Huntley. As nervous as I am about this decision I just asked myself how I felt about the other two.
Moss is a beast and our lead back this year. Not one of us is afraid of him in that role.
Simpkins is also very impressive, has earned a starting spot and I’ve been…[Read more] -
Utah started the topic I'm glad Troy isn't starting. in the forum Football 7 years, 11 months ago
Look, reality is this: Troy wasn’t very good last year.
Look at PAC-12 stats:

Total Offense: 7
Passing yards: 9
Pass Efficiency (team): 10
3rd down conversion: 8
Ref Sone Offense: 11
Pass Avg/game: 6

Onlyu started the topic Picking the starter at QB in the forum Football 7 years, 11 months ago
The more I think about it…If it is truly a close competition then maybe give them each a half against N Dakota. It might be a little risky from a momentum standpoint, but throw them in against live bullets against a respectable (but lower division) opponent and see who shines. Perform in front of a packed house…lets see who takes the job…[Read more]

Onlyu replied to the topic Here is why Huntley is the correct choice, IMO. in the forum Football 7 years, 11 months ago
I’d say Huntley won’t go anywhere if he’s not the starter. He still has two years left and would be the heir apparent next year. He came back this year knowing Williams started 13 games last year and it would be very difficult to unseat him. There will be playing time for him this year regardless of whether he starts or not.
Tuttle is very…[Read more]

Your source says Huntley? Sweet. Troy it is!In all seriousness, I don’t get why Huntley transfers if Troy starts. He gets meaningful minutes this year, and takes the reigns next year. Why is it such a bad situation for him? Plus his 2 buddies are here. I can see why Troy would transfer though. I think that would be terrible.

ladyinred replied to the topic Why you don't play two QB's: in the forum Football 7 years, 11 months ago
Just thinking aloud, I wonder if this has anything to do with concern about the O line. Maybe Huntley shows better escapability when the pocket collapses, which they are maybe expecting. But that’s practicing against THIS defense…I’d run fast af too.

Utah replied to the topic Why you don't play two QB's: in the forum Football 7 years, 11 months ago
I don’t think that’s an issue. You don’t want to play as a true freshman and then it would be Huntley-SR vs Tuttle-FR. Worst case scenario, Tuttle starts as a RS-Sophomore.
I don’t think it’s quite as big of a deal as we think/worry.
Also, Troy was not good last year. Maybe it was injury, maybe scheme, but he was still terrible. We should have…[Read more]

If Huntley is your “red zone” QB, then he might as well be your every down QB. The red zone is the toughest place to play football.
If Huntley gives you the best chance to score in the red zone, then it wouldn’t make any sense to not play him the rest of the field.
